Achieving universal local plan coverage is a major objective for UK government and a key part of its planning reforms to deliver growth. But how do we get there, and what are the potential challenges? Last week, Stantec brought together leading voices from industry, as well as figures from local and central government to discuss the future of plan making – and the actions needed to accelerate their preparation. From strong political leadership and earlier engagement with statutory consultees, to well-resourced departments and stronger commitments to meet Local Development Schemes – here are some quick takeaways from Anna Rose of the Planning Advisory Service (PAS) and Michael Knott, town planning director at Stantec.
Anna Rose and Michael Knott , thanks for the insightful comments and summary of the recent Stantec roundtable event . I look forward to the takeaways from the next event in March hosted by my colleague Alex Trott . #newcommunitiescampaign
This is an excellent summary of the quick takeaways Michael Knott and Anna Rose! This an important part of moving forward and accelerating readiness for the growth we need for housing and infrastructure.
very interesting insight!
Some great insights from an excellent discussion!
I'm really proud of Stantec's work on new communities and this roundtable is a key part of our continuing #newcommunitiescampaign. Listening to the Chancellor's speech earlier, some great insights from Michael Knott and Anna Rose which are particularly relevant to the growth agenda for housing, infrastructure and the wider economy😊
Really helpful summary of the discussions around the table Michael Knott ! Sounds like a full session, with shared experiences and challenges identified, but a strong look forward to how we work together to maintain the flow of plan-making to enable delivery whilst maintaining transparency (something we touched upon a lot at another session yesterday). Well done !

2moI loved being involved in this roundtable and was so impressed with the quality of the discussion. I really wasn’t sure at all when my brilliant colleague in Stantec’s Marketing team Beverley Westhead BSc (Hons) PGCert MCIM CDMP asked me if I would be willing to do a short recording but I thought being too self conscious wasn’t a good enough reason not too! Too late now but luckily I was joined by Anna Rose who is her usual excellent self
