Faruque Hassan President of Brand BGMEA said, #RMG’s Performance Bodes Well for Future. A few decades ago it was near to impossible to imagine that Bangladesh would ever become a dominant force in the world of #apparel_manufacturing and that nine out of the world’s #top_10_green_factories would be Bangladeshi🇧🇩. It was inconceivable that Bangladesh would overtake China – the RMG’s Performance Bodes Well for Futureworld’s #largest_apparel exporter – in apparel exports in the lucrative #European_market. It is heartening to see not only has Bangladesh surpassed China in #RMG_export volume to the #EU_market but also recently become number one #cotton_made apparel supplier to USA🇺🇲. Bangladesh’s total #apparel_exports to the USA🇺🇲 is also rapidly increasing as more and more #US_brands are shifting their sourcing orders from China🇨🇳 to Bangladesh🇧🇩. Thanks to its high level of adaptability to due diligence best practices, resilience and unwavering commitment to become more dynamic and comparative, Bangladesh #RMG_industry has succeeded in earning the trust of the #global_brands and #consumers. One can figure out the stunning rise of the industry by the fact that export earnings from this sector have more than doubled in last one decade, reaching a whopping USD 46.99 -billion in previous 2022-23 fiscal year. This impressive growth of Bangladesh #RMG&industry has made it the world’s second largest garment supplier, with its products selling in 167 countries. Some other amazing facts about the RMG sector includes it accounts for around 84.58 percent of total export earnings of Bangladesh. With 3,500 active #clothing_factories at present and USD 20 -billion in investment, the sector contributes 11 percent to GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT (#GDP) and supports over 4 million jobs directly. Of those, 60 percent are #female. So, it would not be an overstatement to say that the #apparel_sector is the largest source of employment for #women in the #industrial_sector. The quality and success of #RMG overseas has also brought pride and honour to every Bangladeshis. Today when someone abroad mentions they are from #Bangladesh, “#superior_quality” springs to mind of the #foreigners, similar to Switzerland🇨🇭 for its watches. The export-oriented garment sector began in 1978 in a rudimentary way. Bangladesh didn’t reach its present level of sophistication and robust #growth just out of the blue. It has been a long journey of trial and error, perseverance and hard work for #apparel_makers. In response to the dedication, enormous efforts and contribution of all, the #industry has undergone massive transformation and grown manifold since its inception. Its #technology features, #safety, #product_quality and #category, and #environmental sustainability all have improved by several orders of magnitude. 👉https://lnkd.in/gTHhTHhz 👉https://lnkd.in/gT3gZJ7g 👉https://lnkd.in/g_GNqZ-B 👉https://lnkd.in/gyJriEfc 👉https://lnkd.in/gEfGcVQn 👉https://lnkd.in/g5EbhZcH

WireFrame — The #BangladeshCrisis and its Discontents The #readymadegarments (RMG) sector in #Bangladesh is facing perhaps its biggest ever crisis since it grew by a whopping 280% from January 2009 to 2022-23 under Sheikh Hasina Wazed who was forced to flee the country on 5 August. In the throes of a political turmoil, we shall have to wait and watch how the situation unfolds at the cost that the RMG sector will have to pay. Read this mini-series of texfash.com analyses and reports. https://lnkd.in/g6WUBjPh Whether Bangladesh's #apparel industry is able to tide over the crisis would depend on unity and resilience. https://lnkd.in/ghgc97fZ Even before the current turmoil, buyers were already looking for capacities elsewhere, due to capacity saturation in Bangladesh. The recent turmoil will expedite their plans. https://lnkd.in/gGdEid5T The birth of the Bangladesh's #RMG industry obviously long predates the last Hasina regime, but it was during the period that the industry grew the most—both in numbers and stature. https://lnkd.in/gKR9pj6Q #apparelindustry #sourcing #supplychain #trade #manufacturing #texfash Brand BGMEA Apparel Export Promotion Council Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) Ethical Trading Initiative IAF: International Apparel Federation Follow texfash.com on LinkedIn: https://lnkd.in/dWNRX6vM
