My second news article, focusing on mental health issues among workers, was published by Harian Metro on June 18th, 2024. Health encompasses not only physical well-being but also mental health. The article specifically addressed mental health challenges faced by young academicians, though this public health issue is relevant to workers in all sectors. A recent study predicts that by 2030, mental health disorders will become the second most prevalent disease after heart disease if effective prevention programs are not implemented.

It's no secret that doctors make the worst patients and have some of the poorest health outcomes. This month, I'm changing the narrative by: 1. Reducing my work hours to create better work-life balance 2. Scheduling those long-overdue medical check-ups and screenings 3. Prioritizing self-care and stress management I scheduled all of the recommended visits as well as physical therapy and chiropractic appointments due to back and knee pain. I also visited the dentist and hired a trainer to begin my weight loss journey. And because our mental health is just as important as our physical, I scheduled weekly therapy visits because I've been feeling off. The purpose of Men’s Health Week is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. 31 percent of men suffer from depression in their lifetime and 9 percent of men have daily feelings of depression or anxiety.
