Meet us at THE BR-DGE, the center of gravity for space innovation, in the heart of El Segundo, California, the aerospace capital of the world. THE BR-DGE catalyzes an innovation ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs building space capabilities for the new space economy, a commercial space sector projected to grow to $1.8 trillion dollars by 2035 from $630 billion dollars in 2023 - almost twice the rate of global GDP growth. On April 25, 2024, I2A Expo Day celebrated the inaugural I2A (Innovate to Accelerate) cohort bringing together government stakeholders, venture capitalists, and industry professionals to THE BR-DGE. The inaugural I2A cohort saw 18 companies leverage $30.4 million dollars in non-dilutive financing to develop innovative technologies addressing the most pressing problems in national space today. Through our strategic partnerships with SpaceWERX, the State of California, and as the Aerospace lead for Los Angeles County, see how DTI supports the future of the space economy. In "Hangry" Mike Evans, founder of Grubhub, mentions the phenomenon of a "restaurant row" within each city. Rather than compete for resources this co-location of the industry spurs growth in a sector driving more, and more customers to this area. Mike refers to this as "embiggening". THE BR-DGE is embiggening the #defense and #space ecosystem right here in El Segundo. We are a nearly 17,000-square-foot facility in the home of aerospace innovation and offer programs to support the creation, development, and investment in leading #dualuse capability in support of our national interests. We would love for YOU, to stop by and see everything DTI and THE BR-DGE has to offer. 🇦🇺🚀🛰️ THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO BE A SPACE STARTUP! The 39th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, run by the Space Foundation was amazing - here are some of my key observations. 🚀💰 Investors and VCs believe there has never been a better time to be a Space Startup - if you have a pathway to sustainable, repeatable or recurring revenue. 🌎💰 McKinsey now predicts the value of the Space Economy to be $1.8 Trillion by 2035, up from $680 Billion in 2023. 🏛️🏦 Integrating commercial capabilities into military space capabilities is a strategic priority. 🛰️🌎🇦🇺 Returning objects from orbit is critical and will grow massively; Australia has geographical and regulatory advantages - a massive opportunity for Australia that will help lift the entire space economy! 🦘🇦🇺💡 Australians are very innovative and entrepreneurial - we punch way above our weight, and the US recognises this. 🇦🇺🇺🇸🇬🇧 AUKUS Pillar 2 applies to space, and it is critical for the future - this will create enormous opportunities for Australian space companies. 🇺🇸👍 Americans think differently about risk and innovation and understand that to get after hard problems quickly, failure is inevitable. We need to adopt more of this thinking in Australia. Overall, I am very optimistic about the future of space technologies being built out of Australia. We are at the beginning of a space infrastructure-enabled 5th industrial revolution. A shoutout to Tamara Bell, John Leslie, Stuart Nutting, Paul Burfield Christopher Amor and Dr Catherine Grace, (MBBS) from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and Department for Trade and Investment for delivering significant value for Australian companies attending. Thanks to the Space Industry Association of Australia team, who attended to help promote the Australian space industry and next year's International Aeronautical Congress in Sydney. #IACSydney2025 A big thanks to Kevin Rudd and Enrico Palermo, and the representatives from Space Command AU and Defence Australia, for championing the Australian Space sector. Where are we with the LEO economy, where do we want to be, and what can we do to make sure we get there? As #starship is poised to make significant up&downmass to/from space a reality, that's one of my fav current topics. So I'm happy I'm off to #LUspaceweek in Luxembourg this week, and will speak not on one but two panels on this very topic: Tue 03-Dec at #NewSpaceEurope on "The Business Case of Commercial Space Stations" with David Caponio from VAST, Felix Steiner from Yuri, and Hubert Moser from Flawless Photonics. Wed 04-Dec at #SpaceForInspiration on the "Status of the LEO Economy from an Agency/Market Perspective" with Bernhard Hufenbach from ESA, H. Ludwig Moeller from ESPI, Jaroslav Toth from EIB, Pierre Festal from Promus Ventures, and Jose Salgado from Space Commerce Matters. Can't wait to discuss the future of in-space manufacturing, which we are investing in via various portfolio companies at E2MC.
