The StarFlight Australia team has paused to mark ANZAC Day and pay their respects. This is a special day for our service, as many staff are former Defence Force personnel. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them 🌹

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬? For aerobatic pilots ✈️ like Flight Lieutenant Justin “Jugs” Hayter of the Royal Australian Air Force, decisions often need to be made in split seconds⏱️. Decision making for someone in a role such as his is typically driven by muscle memory or standard operating procedures (SOPs). In military situations, whether it’s ‘contact left’ or ‘contact right,’ a soldier's response is dictated by their training 🪖. Similarly, in the workplace, whether it’s an outage or a cyber attack, immediate procedures and checklists📋 are followed. However, Jugs shared an interesting perspective about situations where standard rules don’t apply. In such cases, the response boils down to team culture. For example, if you know that your boss and team will back you up, that might encourage bold decisions, which can resolve situations faster than playing it safe. ▶️ Watch the video to hear Jugs’ insights and share your thoughts. 🎞️ For those who enjoy my previous video on including transitions in videos, see if you can spot the subtle transition I included in the clip. #content #video #tips

If we asked you to guess what year the G-suit was invented, what would you say? 1960? 1970? Would you believe 1942?! On November 8, 1942, pilots of the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm wore the world’s first anti-G suits in combat. Pilots of 807 Squadron wore the Canadian-designed Franks Flying Suit in their Supermarine Seafires over Oran, Algeria as part of Operation Torch. The Canadian innovation by Dr. Wilbur Franks used water pressure to counteract G-forces that could cause pilots to black out during intense maneuvers. This breakthrough allowed pilots to maintain control in high-stress flight conditions, changing the future of aviation. Even though modern G-suits use air instead of water, they still can trace their roots back to this game-changing Canadian invention!

Airbus Helicopters in NZ
#Helicopters everywhere! Airbus Helicopters organised a special rendezvous for customers and operators in New Zealand. Altogether, 40 helicopters, ranging from the light utility #H125 to the advanced military #NH90, flew to a stunning location in #Wanaka on South Island. The gathering enabled #Airbus colleagues, customers and operators to connect and to share feedback on flying the aircraft on a wide range of missions. In this wildly #beautiful country, with its many islands, mountainous terrain, rivers, lakes and open countryside, helicopters often offer the most convenient link for communities. They also play a crucial role in both para-public and military missions, including search and rescue, medical services and law enforcement. #AirbusHelicopters #KiaOra #Aotearoa

The importance of good procedures, checklists, technical mastery and knowledge, and the most important of all is the organization culture and values. Especially, when people work or make decides during gray areas or when no rules could apply. That's when the culture and values play its role.

Today’s Royal Air Force would look completely different if this aircraft entered service. It’s the TSR 2 – a cancelled British strike & reconnaissance aircraft developed by the British Aircraft Corporation during the Cold War. It was miles ahead of any other aircraft in the world and if introduced, I’m not sure there would have been a Tornado or a Jaguar. The project was cancelled among much controversy in 1965. So what do you think – was the UK government right to pull the plug on the project, or was this another big mistake as with the Nimrod MRA 4 and the Harrier? #aviation #aircraft #airplane #aviationlovers #fyp

New day, another task on B787 Dreamliner✈️ Let's take a quick review on the B787 flight deck🤩 One of the defining feature of the 787 flight deck, the Head Up Display (HUD), is military technology in civilian clothing. In other aircraft types, pilots fly by constantly switching their attention between the screens inside and the view outside. By displaying the information from the PFD, the HUD enables us to monitor all the flight parameters whilst simultaneously looking out of the windshield

As a #physician who worked in #emergencymedicine settings, agree with all this. Also, in building a high performance team in #startup & #digitalhealth, I bring the teamwork and best practices from my past career for #Agile, fast-paced #tech build with a commitment to #safety & #quality. In the past I wrongly overindexed on someone’s work in #pharma to assume that meant a commitment to high compliance or good documentation only to realize that some people are overly dependent on “who is watching/policing me” rather than an internal personal commitment to quality no matter what. It is the latter I want on a #womenshealth #startup team. Now, I do not look at the resume as much as actual behaviors over time. I also pay close attention to if someone’s behavior changes after they get privileged access, title, control. Are they trustworthy?

These must be the “helicopter” carriers. A navigator runs back to her post after raising the Rising Sun Flag, the Japanese naval ensign, aboard the Kaga in 2018 while it was still a helicopter carrier. Photo: Reuters The upgraded Kaga, formerly a helicopter carrier, is now capable of deploying the F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter's vertical take-off variant Analysts say the carrier will be a welcome addition to Japan's arsenal - but it's unlikely to be a game changer amid rising regional tensions Japan has completed the initial upgrades to its warship Kaga, transforming one of the largest vessels in the Maritime Self-Defence Force fleet from a helicopter carrier to the country's first full aircraft carrier since World War II. The upgraded ship, now capable of deploying the vertical take-off variant of the F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter, will be a welcome addition to the Japanese arsenal, analysts say - although the Kaga alone will not be a game changer amid rising regional tensions over maritime security.
