Our #career #learning objectives are exemplified by this experience. Exposure to career paths and access to professionals is critical to the exploration journey!
Our student cohosts from Imhotep Institute Charter High School interviewed Chekemma Fulmore-Townsend,MSW, President at HAMILTON FAMILY CHARITABLE TRUST & John Blaskovich of MedEast Post-Op and Surgical and the theme seemed to be persistence & choices. Chekemma said that "who you hang around with is who you become" and that her difficult childhood circumstances informed her that she didn't want to make bad choices. In addition to John telling the students to be "persistent in mindset and what you need to do to achieve your goals" he also shared that he asks his team to "treat their patients like they would treat their mother." #realworldleaders #persistence #makegoodchoices

Please read and share this excellent article written by my friend, Amy Bizzarri, of how Dos Hombres mezcal came to be!
My latest story for the Chicago Sun-Times! I had the pleasure of interviewing Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul on Friday evening and ended up joining them for dinner. The best part of meeting these two funny, charming and down-to-Earth guys is that I dared ask them about the game and Cranston offered 10K to a Chicago-based charity if the Bears won on Sunday😏 https://lnkd.in/gcRm83je Photo credit: Garrick Peterson

Did you know that the average cost of training a service dog team is a staggering $28,000? For veterans struggling with PTSD, TBI or MST, this cost can be a barrier to accessing the life-changing support they need. Here's the good news: Unlike other programs in the area, we don't charge veterans for our services or require them to raise funds. Instead, we rely on the generosity of our community to make our program possible. Your support is vital in ensuring that veterans can receive the companionship and assistance of a service dog without financial burden. By sponsoring, buying tickets, or donating auction items to our upcoming Answer The Call dinner & auction, you're directly contributing to this cause and helping us make a difference in the lives of veterans in need. Join us in answering the call. Together, we can make a meaningful impact. It is only when we believe our efforts can change the world that we can begin making a positive difference through action. Though thoughtful individuals typically recognize that there is much suffering in the world, few consider themselves equipped to address the needless hurt and poverty they see. When we believe in our power to ease worldly pain, we recognize that even our most meager charitable endeavors have merit and are part of a larger community of goodness. We don't eschew opportunities to express ourselves philanthropically, thinking only of what we cannot do. Rather, we understand that change is the result of every person doing all they can. When you believe in yourself today, you'll find the strength to become a lifelong philanthropist. DailyOM #letschangetheworld #changetheworld #bethechangeyouwanttosee
