6-months ago today I started at Talent Forge Australia, so why not reflect on my first few months. By far the most I've learnt in a 6-month period. I came into the role with a degree in business but realistically didn't have much of an idea of the intricacies and nuances of the business landscape Being completely honest I didn't expect the number of factors that go into every decision and call you make in sales From hammering myself into asking open-ended questions during calls to understanding different route to markets I've loved every moment of it Learning about different industries, market trends, or just having a chat with Rob from XYZ about how the WA market is exploding I'll chalk this up to mostly my team, who couldn't have done a better job in their support, throwing me into the deep end, encouraging mistakes, and providing daily feedback Do I still waffle too much? Yeh, that's still a work in progress 🤕 Here's to the next 6 🍻

As an early stage investor, you should always endeavor to try the #product. But actually needing the product of #startups you’re invested in - now that’s the dream! 🤩 Here’s the story of how my investing + environmental passions aligned and Pangea played a critical role in the early momentum behind Tahoe Lead Removal Project 🤝 I had the opportunity to invest in Adam Alpert, John Paul Tambunting and their vision for the future of employment back in 2021 when Pangea went through Y Combinator. At the time, they had taken their platform connecting college talent to paid opportunities to the next level, offering a new way to augment #career development outside of traditional internships. Our group at Halo Labs was eager to support their efforts 🌱 The growth of #remotework was a major tailwind for their model, especially when it proved staying power post pandemic. While #wfh isn’t a reality for many industries, for a wide range of roles it opens up access to #talent that simply wouldn’t be available otherwise. Pangea’s model takes that even further by enabling contract and project based engagements, complete with progress tracking, contracts, etc. - a full suite solution to hire + manage part time remotely 💼 Last year as our #community planned the launch of Tahoe Lead Removal Project, we knew that outreach and social media presence would be critical. To say its beyond my skill set would be an understatement, I barely even knew where to start 🤔 In following the company’s progress closely over the years I knew this type of use case was ideal for Pangea, so I turned to them to fill the need. Adam brings energy and enthusiasm to well, everything, and it was incredible to have that on our side as he went above and beyond to get us started. I was immediately blown away by the volume of applicants - and most importantly the incredible quality of the candidate pool 🏄♂️ We were very fortunate to bring aboard Lauren Murillo and Kyla Bowen, both of whom brought directly applicable experience and took our #marketing from 0→1 in short order. They were fantastic to work with and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Not only did they deliver, but set us up for future projects and growth in the future. My son is one week into his first job, working at Wonde. Wonde is a four-day week company, so my son’s working pattern will be two days from home, two days in the office and .. that’s it. I have long considered the possibility of a four-day week. I know many colleagues who have done this and never looked back and we all know how great that extra day on a bank-holiday weekend feels. However, most of the people I know with this arrangement are in what I’d call “individual contributor” roles; I (personally) don’t know any people is senior leadership roles who are blazing this particular trail. For my son, however, who is starting his career on a four day basis, why would he now ever consider a role at a company that requires him to work 25% more for the same reward? #worklifebalance #fourdayweek
