Attorney helping entrepreneurs launch and grow businesses and helping investors raise and deploy capital
September is one of my favorite months in Boston because the city is always abuzz with activity, and the local startup scene is no exception. After a relative lull in events over the summer, there is so much to do in September it is often hard to decide what to attend. But the one event I haven't missed in about seven years, is Startup Boston Week, organized by the irrepressible Stephanie Roulic and her outstanding Startup Boston team, which this year begins September 9. I'm thrilled to be back again this year to speak about how founders can develop an effective working relationship with their startup's legal counsel. It's a topic I really believe doesn't get enough attention. There is a wealth of information available for founders on how to find and build relationships with co-founders, advisors and investors, but remarkably little available on finding and building relationships with a lawyer, despite the fact that the company's lawyer can play a critical role in helping founders - particularly first-time founders - navigate the pitfalls they will encounter as they build their business. And as anyone who has had a bad experience will tell you, making a mistake in hiring counsel can be very costly. If you are a founder and you either haven't found a lawyer yet or you're not sure if your current counsel is a good fit, I strongly encourage you to check out my session, IN PERSON OR ONLINE, on Monday, September 9, at 1:15 ET. Also, check out my Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough colleague, Mallory Acheson, CIPP-E, CIPM, FIP, who will be speaking on legal considerations in deploying AI in your startup on Tuesday, September 10, at 11:30 ET. Don’t miss out – grab your free ticket now at https://lnkd.in/egYWFpMH Can’t wait to see you in-person at Suffolk University (or online!).
I miss crossing paths with you in the start-up scene! Hope you're doing well.
These topics are FIRE and a must for all founders
