Job Title: Document Review Lawyer Location: Lagos Mode of Work: Remote Salary: 300,000 Naira Overview: The primary responsibility of this role is to review, analyze, and categorize legal documents in preparation for litigation, regulatory compliance, due diligence, or other legal matters. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently within tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities: 1. Review and analyze legal documents, including contracts, emails, memos, and other materials, to identify relevant information and issues. 2. Conduct thorough and accurate document review using electronic discovery software and other review tools. 3. Apply relevant legal concepts, guidelines, and instructions to assess the significance and responsiveness of documents. 4. Categorize documents based on predetermined criteria, such as privilege, relevance, confidentiality, and key issues. 5. Collaborate with legal teams to develop and implement document review strategies and workflows. 6. Produce detailed reports and summaries of findings, including recommendations for further action. 7. Participate in quality control processes to ensure accuracy and consistency in document review. 8. Communicate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and other team members to address questions, provide updates, and resolve issues. 9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards throughout the document review process. 10. Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends to enhance expertise and effectiveness in document review. In Basic Terms: There is a trial coming up between two legal teams. We are hired during the “discovery phase” which is when both parties get all the necessary information from the opposing side. We will be doing the research for that discovery phase. We will be given a protocol to follow which will tell you what you are looking for in the documents that you will review (read this thoroughly as it has everything you need to be successful at understanding your task). You will be given instructions on how to “code” each document. There will be a training call where the lead counsel will discuss the protocol, weekly meetings to discuss what could be done better and there will usually be a team group chat that the managers will provide updates to, and employees can ask questions. Requirements: -BL or equivalent qualification in Law -Minimum of 2 years of experience as a practicing lawyer. -Employee must be able to work Eastern Standard Time -Employee must be able to show stable Electricity during work hours. (There cannot be any down time) -Employee must have a dedicated noise free work area (Due to the sensitivity of data, work cannot be done at a shared space.) - Internet will be provided for this role.
