Is your child starting a new school? Are they going to Kindergarten? Have you heard of a 45 Day Screening? Most families are not aware of a law in Arizona that focuses on identifying children with disabilities to ensure they are appropriately supported for educational success. In the schools, this is often known as the 45 Day Screening or 45 Day Screener. I am a fan of this because it reduces the chance of children slipping through the cracks and getting help late. Not every school has a strong approach to conducting this program, but implementing a 45 Day Screening means teachers and professionals in related services (e.g. speech therapist, occupational therapist) are looking at each child with a closer lens. And if additional services are warranted (e.g. intervention, special education), then we can make sure that these programs are initiated and monitored as soon as possible. Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R7-2-401 requires public education agencies to screen students for possible disabilities within 45 calendar days of certain events: When a student enters preschool or kindergarten When a student enrolls without appropriate screening, evaluation, or progress records When a parent notifies the agency of concerns about their child's developmental or educational progress between the ages of 3 and 21 #45dayscreening #specialeducation #education #intervention #responsetointervention #rti #speech #speechtherapy #occupationaltherapy #publiceducation #publicschools #arizona #departmentofeducation #learning #support #children #students #kindergarten #readingdisability #learningdisability #languageimpairment #speechproblems #articulationdisorder #earlyidentification

I help businesses in hospitality, tourism and care achieve increased occupancy and compliance by attracting and retaining loyal customers and employees. Using my experiences of hearing loss and unique audit led approach.
Did you know that over 40% of individuals living with learning disabilities have an undiagnosed and/or unsupported hearing loss? Without timely support, this can lead to communication difficulties which can be mistaken for "challenging" behaviour. Our preventative course reduces misunderstandings and unnecessary intervention of medicating and/or placing in an institution. Join us on 30th October for a full-day, online course: "Learning Disability and Hearing Loss". Our course equips family carers and professionals with the tools to identify and support individuals living with learning disability and acquired hearing loss, helping them to maintain their independence. DM me or Nicola Simpson or visit on the website to register! In alt text there is the content of the flyer and image description. In brief here: there is a red and blue flyer with text in white font promoting our joint course of Learning Disability and Hearing Loss. #InclusionMatters #HearingLoss #LearningDisability #Carers #Prevention
