Job security is crucial for maintaining the quality services that our communities rely on. Unfortunately, 54% of local government workers have seen a decrease in secure work at their councils. And this isn’t just about jobs—it’s about ensuring that vital services like early childhood education, road maintenance, and community support are delivered effectively. By standing together, we can advocate for secure, well-paid jobs in local government. These jobs are the foundation of strong, resilient communities. In 2024, our team will be working around the clock for the West Virginia Miracle! 🕒 Our CEO and President, Garrett Ballengee shares his vision for how we will do that in 2024. 💼 Reform occupational licensing requirements ⚕️ Eliminate certificate of need 🏫 Expand and protect education freedom “These priorities represent a continuation of Cardinal’s long-standing belief that the enlargement of freedom is paramount to West Virginia’s success as a state. We sorely need freedom in the spaces where individuals educate their kids, pursue a career, and access critical health care services. Fortunately, many of these priorities have seen substantial progress in the last few years. Though all could be better.” We believe West Virginia is on the right track. In our recent Dignity Project polling, we found that 47% of Mountaineers believe our state is headed in the right direction. This year, let’s capitalize on that momentum! https://lnkd.in/gvRU8Ed2 #wvmiracle #publicpolicy #endCON #educationchoice #ITrustParents #occupationallicensing #jobs #barrierstowork

If you aren't familiar with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development's Drive for Five initiative, check it out. Yesterday Gov. Walz and DEED Commissioner Matt Varilek announced $20m in grants for organizations, schools, and institutions focusing efforts on preparing more Minnesotans for high-demand jobs in five occupational categories: technology, the trades, caring professions, manufacturing and education. "'Today is a big day for Minnesota workers and Minnesota employers. The grantees announced today will engage together in a holistic approach that will closely align training with sector skills needs – while targeting family-sustaining, high-demand, career-path employment,' said DEED Commissioner Matt Varilek." Minnesota's investments in education, access, and workforce will pay dividends--not just for the state's economy, but directly for Minnesotans and their families. #workforcedevelopment #education #driveforfive #highdemand #familysustainingwage #minnesota
