Our employee spotlight for the month of December features Daryl L., Business Operations Manager at INT. Read on to learn more about Daryl! 1) What does your job entail? INT’s “Admin Ops” department provides our clients fulfillment services including invoicing, customer service and collections, payment processing, and some specialized accounts payable functions. I am responsible for maintenance and support of client legacy software, am a liaison for development of new software, and work closely with our Accounting Department for certain payroll and reconciliation projects. 2) What word describes you that starts with I, N, or T? Tenacious 3) What inspires you and why (in or outside of INT)? Within INT, Dave Linderman is a constant source of inspiration because of his leadership and the example he sets every day. 4) What hobbies or interests do you enjoy outside of work? I enjoy BBQing and home improvement projects. 5) What is something you've taken for granted in the past? I haven't always done as well as I would like with work-life balance, but I am getting better at it. 6) What was your favorite TV show growing up and why? Star Trek. "Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before!" 7) If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? I remember when I got my first full time job I would hear people mention benefits but I never paid much attention. It wasn’t what attracted me you could say. I didn’t really care I just wanted to work and contribute to my family my mom couldn’t work because of her health and I saw how hard my dad worked to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. Benefits are made to sound nice but what I have learned is that they may not be that great. Employees pay for their benefits, insurance, retirement, taxes but the employer gets all the tax credits. Some benefits you can’t even take with you when you lose your job or change jobs. While others like sick leave and PTO you have to ask your supervisor for permission to use it. That’s probably one of the reasons I love self employment, you’re your own boss so you get all the tax advantages and decide what benefits you want to pay not forced to pay. Health insurance is a lot cheaper when you’re self employed. Another reason is my time is mine like my money is mine. I can work one day or 7, I can work 1 hour a day or 10. I can work at home or in an office. I don’t have a boss , yearly evaluations or quotas. I have a team they are all independent so I don’t have to nag them about their productivity because it’s up to them. My job provides a wonderful opportunity to interact not only with INT staff, but also with folks from one of our largest clients. It is my responsibility to appropriately account for that client's revenues and expenses on a monthly basis while managing all aspects of their cash flow, from tracking and forecasting purposes to approving release of funds for payroll and bill payments. 2) What are words that describe you that start with I, N, or T? Thorough 3) Who inspires you and why (in or outside of INT)? My son. He's wise beyond his years. 4) What hobbies or interests do you enjoy outside of work? With my son living in Colorado, there is plenty of time for hobbies. I enjoy video games extensively outside of work. Roughly 4 hours daily on average. 5) What was your favorite TV show growing up and why? Alf - I always loved it. Had a sleeping bag and everything. 6) If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? Teleportation seems legit. When you work with a billing company you don't want to be "just another client". We recently had one of our providers mention that with their prior billing company, they were CONSTANTLY getting new account managers and new staff working on their claims.
