There’s a lot going on in Barcelona right now! 🏎 It was a shame that Lando just missed out yesterday, but nevertheless it’s great to see encouraging signs of this year’s F1 championship looking a little more competitive! ⛵ The America Cup is building towards the October series, with evidence of serious team presence in the buildings around the harbour. However, just as importantly, it was the location for an excellent DeepTech Alliance Clean Energy event last week. Thanks to Jakob Heiberg for the kind invite, David Domingo for the hosting in Barcelona and Linda Krondahl and Magnus Melander for the fine organisation. 🌍 It’s highly encouraging to see such success in bringing together three of the crucial ingredients necessary to properly solve the world’s headline problems in this area: large corporates prepared to innovate, start-ups and sources of investment. 🌐 Given the scale of the challenges we face, a global effort is needed. Whilst the Deep Tech Alliance membership across 11 countries doesn’t quite qualify on its own as ‘global’ it’s certainly an impressive effort to bring together players from all these regions, and a fantastic opportunity for collaboration and cross-fertilisation. 👩💻 Whilst I had many interesting conversations covering a myriad of challenges from business model and regulation to technology, it was highly refreshing to see such a recognition of the value of the fourth crucial ingredient - access to deep technical expertise (in itself cross fertilised across multiple domains) to help develop the products and solutions needed.
