VFX is not ok. This great video explains so many aspects of this newish industry. The fundamentals of the business and the yes culture of client / vendor relationship, the tax credits influence, studios opening and closing, cheap labour split, VFX around the world, innovative art transforming into automated clicks, pixelf*cking, inexperience producers and supervisors on both client and vendor side, exploiting artists by leveraging name credit on a big movie, the threat of AI, the strikes effect on content production (streaming, movies...)and the labor on allllll levels… I would add the lack of management skills running those studios, money wasted, creative egos forgetting that art can be financially responsible, those artists are employees and to be employed, the business (studio) needs to be healthy...

Great quote from Phil Tippett, all supervisors everywhere in this industry need to stop with the "what's wrong with the image" attitude to "how we can make the image better" attitude. Nobody cares about the spec highlights on the distant screen right bg building. Nobody cares about the grain in the blue channel in the right corner is slightly different than the plate grain. These little changes don't make the final image realistic, it just makes it one of the many possible million variations. The video really nails the issue correctly by addressing that there are so many supervisors out there giving notes not because the final image isn't realistic but because they need to justify their salary and act like they did do some work. For the love of God, stop.

I would like to hear the opinion of my more experienced friends and colleagues about this situation. Very insightful video!
