📸: With rope access inspection not being a mainstream service in New Zealand, I.A Solutions’ asset integrity team is providing new opportunities for its clients. The team recently conducted an ultrasonic thickness testing (UTT) survey of a gas conditioning tower at a cement plant, taking UTT readings at 2 m grids throughout the vessel’s interior. This is routine condition monitoring taking place during scheduled maintenance shutdowns, previously not possible without the utilization of rope access internally. The vessel had never been entered before, so significant confined space atmosphere monitoring and rope access rescue was necessary. Twelve sets of ropes pre-rigged for rescue were set up, and technicians transferred their way around the vessel. All inspec- tors held UT Level II and IRATA level 3 qualifications. Submit your high-res photo out in the field performing nondestructive testing to MEEditor@asnt.org, along with a 100-150 word summary about what is happening in the photo(s) for a chance to be featured in an upcoming issue of Materials Evaluation! #asnt #ndt #nondestructivetesting #ndtcommunity #inspection #photos #ropeaccess #ultrasonicthickness

Say hello to the 4" body housing of an 857-F riser swivel joint. Engineered by OILCO nearly six decades ago, many of the second-generation 1970s units are still in use (believe it or not!) across petroleum loading racks throughout the western states. Easy maintenance for a single technician: - Tapered roller bearing units with a shielded removable seal - Dual o-ring compartment enclosed with heavy wall locking collar - Replace main pressure seals in minutes, no rack or arm disassembly required And while this consistent, reliable, efficient riser swivel was designed for a lengthy performance lifespan, if you last bought one in the 70s, it MIGHT be time for a new one. Maybe. Just saying. Field Operations Engineer 🖤💀⚙️ Stuffing Box 🔥 what happened here colleagues? - Let's learn from everyone. .☕ Wireline Stuffing Box is the primary barrier during slickline operations and is used during work on wells with pressure. The Stuffing Box consists of a packing chamber with an external nut or hydraulic chamber. The Stuffing Box provides a swivel bracket and sheave that guide the wireline through the packing chamber. The radius of the Stuffing Box sheave is interchangeable to accept larger sheaves for larger wireline sizes. The packing is energized and forms an effective seal around the wireline and preventing well pressures from escaping. The packing is energized by tightening a nut on a “manual” Stuffing Box or by apply hydraulic pressure to a “Hydraulic” Stuffing Box. The Hydraulic Stuffing Box can be remotely operated and is generally used. The pressure necessary to affect the seal will be variable and is also minimized. Excessive forces can prematurely wear the gland packing or cause the packing to become so tight the wireline cannot be moved. Stuffing boxes contain an integrated plunger (blow out plug or internal BOP) that incorporates passage of the wireline. If the wireline becomes separated and ejected from the well, the integrated plunger is forced up against the bottom of the packing chamber and seals off against well pressure #oilgas #wellservices #professionalexperiences #engineering #ecuador #petroleumengineer #wellintervention #engineer #work #moments #worksafe #workhard #IADC #IWCF #PetroleumServices
