FASD is all too often overlooked because its behavioral characteristics overlap those of far more commonly assigned diagnoses. Normal defensive behaviors are the target of elimination without taking organicity in account. FASD is a physical and neurological condition that is not amenable to motivational strategies, rendering traditional approaches, for the most part, useless if not harmful.
