How well do you know Parliamentary procedure? As part of organizations or association meetings, do you reference Robert’s Rules of Order by Major Henry M. Robert? With vulnerability, I will share that I have been a part of many boards where I have taken the handed down structure of meetings, rather than learning for myself the official procedure. Until yesterday, during the The Maryland Nurses Association Leadership meeting, where Michael L. Swift presented a workbook he created based on Robert’s Rules of Order. My takeaway: with the proper procedure followed in advance, we have options to save time in in these meetings. We may choose to stop “seconding” motions. We may choose limit discussion time.

CEO Concordant Healthcare Solutions, Inc., Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Certified Patient Experience Professional, Nationally Recognized SME for Health Equity
We include compelling historical events and analyses throughout our Human-centered leadership courses to help our learners align those events with contemporary events that affect the healthcare experience of people and communities of color. Here is an example of an event we include: The case of Simkins v. Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital is a landmark legal battle that significantly advanced the cause of civil rights in the realm of healthcare. Challenging and ultimately changing the discriminatory practices of hospitals that received federal funding helped pave the way for the desegregation of healthcare facilities in the United States. The formal apology issued by Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital to the Simkins plaintiffs underscores the ongoing process of reconciliation and the importance of acknowledging and addressing past injustices to move forward. Ever experienced that magical moment where leadership, sales, and service align perfectly? This is where success is waiting for us. Rebecca Adelman is on a mission to empower senior living leaders through her Senior Living Empower Hour webinar series, and I am honored to be a guest today. We get to talk about my favorite topic: leading families through the transitions of care. Being a resource for people who need perspective, confidence in making the right decisions and to be told they are doing a great job makes you a good human and an even better business person. In the senior living profession the moments of transition are when the communities and the families/residents are most vulnerable. How we educate our leaders to be a resource during these times is VERY important. It is the vulnerable times that give us the opportunity to use our emotional intelligence and proactive leadership to manage expectations, ensure quality care and information is given in order to guide families with knowledge in making educated decisions. Join us today to listen to an interesting conversation with a remarkable lawyer Rebecca Adelman and a former Executive Director (and expert witness in legal cases) empower other leaders in the service of others. #Leadership as a discipline can offer plenty of challenges. However, these 12 guideposts aren’t that hard. First, I viewed this list as a teammate to rate my leaders. Then I evaluated how the various leaders in my life drive me. That step alone can be quite inspiring to drive action if you’re missing these steps in your life, but it’s easy to cast stones at others. Next, rate yourself as a leader… This is a bit harder because there’s likely far more to account than this short list. However, these 12 are a great way to examine our behaviors not just for self-improve, but to elevate the team. Both reflections should be practiced frequently enough to create a habit and maybe even a personalized list of leadership obligations. These habits make us virtuous. Tim this reminded me of your son’s LEL comment to Gellert. Thanks for sharing Eran. #excellence #strongertogether #leaderseatlast #selflessness #humility
I received this from Chris Donnelly in London. Great reminder for our obligations as leaders.

I help ambitious women level up with confidence & clarity.⎮1:1 & Group Coaching ⎮ Professional Speaker
What does a former Lieutenant firefighter and once CEO of Colorado Free Press, turned business owner have to say about her journey as a leader and what advice she has for rising women leaders? Last week I interviewed the fabulous Samantha Johnston and I am going to share some of my favorite takeaways: 1 - Be the most capable person in the room by showing up consistently, applying critical thinking, seeing solutions, being resourceful, having a sense of humor, and remaining calm. 2 - You don’t have to know how to build the hospital, you have to know people who know how to build a hospital. Leaders aren’t supposed to have all of the answers - they lean on their people for the answers. 3 - Have challenging and fierce conversations. (Samantha highly recommends the book pictured below; Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott. Upon her recommendation I immediately purchased and cannot wait to read!) 4 - Obey Your Instincts - gut feelings are real, pay attention to them.
