We had the privilege of sponsoring the Journal of Business' Women in Leadership event this morning! This dynamic gathering brought together local women and men leaders for a candid conversation on what's working—and what's not—when it comes to boosting women in corporate leadership, tearing down gender barriers, and fostering healthier business environments. Congratulations to Sarah Boxall & Evonne Kennedy & the teams at Pacific Private Sector Development Initiative (Asian Development Bank) PNG Business Coalition for Women for launching the PNG chapter of this important report. Key takeaways: - whilst there are positive signs that women’s participation in company leadership and on boards is improving, PNG falls below the Pacific average. - women are underrepresented on PNG boards, a quarter of PNG boards have no women and only 7% have achieved gender parity. - hiring and training more women is not enough, company policies and practices must address the systematic barriers and bias faced by women in PNG such as childcare and FSV. - no suprise to also have evidence that women in PNG are educated and ambitious. 80% of women leaders surveyed expressed their board ambitions. Our team are looking forward to our upcoming master class series as part of the #MeriSaveTrades program which will work to strengthen leadership and influencing skills within the PNG trades sector IFC - International Finance Corporation
