Thank you Sean Sullivan for the wonderful piece about our Columbia Crest Head Winemaker Guy Barnes. Guy pursued his interest in winemaking 18 years ago when he joined Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, and we’ve been fortunate to have him with us ever since. Guy’s incredible talent and teamwork mindset add so much to day-to-day life at our Columbia Crest winery. As Guy shared, “As much as I might have the title, this is such a team atmosphere. There’s a large group of people involved in the 10,000 steps that go into this.” We couldn’t have said it any better – winemaking takes a village and we are happy to have Guy part of ours.

The Endless Pursuit of Perfection in Winemaking For every idyllic moment you see of Team Di Costanzo amongst the vines or working in the winery, there are countless others filled with uncertainty and the nagging feeling we could have done better with a particular wine. ❓But do you want to know the frustrating, shake-your-head-and-quietly-laugh-to-yourself thing about that? ☑️ It means we're doing it right. The best winemakers we know, the women and men whose work we admire so much, are all the same. We are never satisfied with our work. There's never a sense of being done, or having nailed a vintage or even one particular wine. Even many years after those grapes were picked and crushed into wine, often we still question what we might have done to make that wine better. It's downright torture! A relentless journey without a final destination. 🤪 While we don't revel in this torment, understand that when you buy from an independent, winemaker-owned winery like ours, you're tasting the fruits of our unwavering determination to improve constantly. It's a lifelong pursuit of perfection in every bottle.

Is Livermore Part Of Wine Country? Yes, Livermore Valley is considered part of California's wine country. While it may not be as famous as some other wine regions in California, such as Napa Valley and Sonoma County, Livermore Valley is a significant wine-producing area with a long history of viticulture and winemaking. It is often referred to as one of the lesser-known gems of California's wine country. Livermore Valley's proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area makes it an accessible destination for both wine enthusiasts and tourists looking to explore wine country. The region's wineries offer a wide range of wines, and visitors can enjoy tasting rooms, tours, and beautiful vineyard landscapes. In addition to Livermore Valley, there are several other wine regions within California's wine country, each known for producing specific grape varieties and wine styles. These regions collectively contribute to California's reputation as one of the world's premier wine-producing states. https://lnkd.in/e3zt6eSs
