If you are going to be a produce transportation provider, you need to have a strong temperature control SOP in place. We ensure all of our reefer loads have clearly communicated temps so our drivers can precool to the accurate temperature and set at continuous. Once a shipment is picked up, we require two pictures per day of the reefer temp readings from our carrier partners. When we handle consolidations at our refrigerated facilities, we use temperature monitors called TempTales. These have GPS tracking, but they read the internal temperature of the trailer. We ensure we have at least one TempTale per shipment when multiple shipments are consolidated into a multi stop load. And of course, experience lends a hand. Our teams have run thousands of loads of produce and refrigerated foods. We verify every temperature on a load tender with customers and shippers. We do everything we can to prevent a temperature related damage claim, so that if a claim comes up we can move through that process quickly and get to a resolution. Produce and refrigerated foods require more touches per shipment, but as with anything more nuanced, it allows our high quality service to really show up and add value. #logistics #operations #trucking #supplychain #freight #produce

Yikes! That must require a lot of floor space for storing empty bottles. Some dairy plants store their milk jugs in warehouses like you see below. Others place their milk jugs in a truck trailer and store them in their yard. Then they bring them back into the plant the next day.
