Seconding this, as a procurement professional from an engineering background, I found it interesting and even joyful to handle IT infrastructure projects, Saas implementation solutions and subscription based agreement not to mention designing SLA matrices. Also, HR success is another story with different taste, however, in each category a real professional should alert to business user differences and cultures cause that is the defining line for the strategy towards successful procurement championing.
Procurement specialist versus procurement head. As a head of procurement/supply chain for many years now I’m rather bemused to find that a high number of procurement interim opportunities focus on the need to specialise in only one spend area/category/process discipline versus someone (like me) who has seen and done it all (and can offer the fuller perspective, skillset and value for money). So no, I haven’t got ‘specialist’ IT knowledge! No, I haven’t got ‘specialist’ risk management experience! No, I haven’t had ‘specialist’ HR success! Instead, I’ve done ALL these things during my career and have now managed/mentored/developed/coached team members who ‘specialise’ (and I’ve navigated the related demands and challenges from C suite stakeholders that go with it). But it appears that being a current specialist in one subject is now more preferable than being experienced across all aspects. Who knew??

Global Head of Contingent Workforce | Global Procurement Manager HR | Contingent Workforce Management | Contingent Workforce Consultant
Goodbye Procurement! Yes❗️February marks my last days in Procurement... It has been such an amazing journey, that I felt it deserved a full post of its own. Procurement has been more than a role—it's been a canvas of growth, connecting with diverse people, companies, and countries. From negotiations to fostering global relationships, Procurement career has played such an important part in sculpting my professional identity. It's a journey that has enriched me both personally and professionally. ⁉️ Quite interestingly to date, one of the most frequent comments I still get is "You are not the typical Procurement person" 🤪 I moved from business side to Procurement, and had some opinion about Procurement 🫣, so I made myself the promise to keep putting myself in the shoes of my stakeholders and always make sure I was delivering real value to them. I'm hoping this is what was perceived from me until today! 🏆 I'm incredibly grateful with all the great people that throughout this Procurement career either gave me a chance, guided me and/or supported me in some way: Lorena Sotelo Rosana Gladys Strychalski Juan Carlos Ahmad Val Arturo Larios Fucugauchi Juan Carlos García Ontiveros Mariel Abellan Julie Smith Nelsy Fuentes James Prescott Jean Wimmerlin Carole Bellone Marika Lindstrom ⏩️ If you are wondering what I'll be doing next, like they do with official announcements, my new role will be subject to separate announcement 🔜 😁 (To keep it 100% Procurement post and to also add some fun mistery!... buy you can probably guess it, right?) Here's to all those amazing Procurement colleagues out there!! 🙌 #procurementprofessionals #careerchange #careertransition #procurementrocks #deliveringvalue
