Indeed, an important observation. Especially for milling cutters with smaller diameters, combined with relatively bigger axial depths of cut and in strain hardening workpiece materials, this phenomenon must be taken into consideration. Otherwise notch wear - which normally is only a secondary wear pattern - could well be the tool life determining wear pattern. However, 40% (!) must be a typing error? When e.g. taking a milling cutter with a diameter of 63 mm and a depth of cut of 5 mm, the difference will be 13%. And with milling cutter diameter 80 mm combined with 5 mm depth of cut, the difference will be 11%.
