#ThrowbackThursday Three weeks ago, I was invited to give a talk at the Universität Klagenfurt as part of the #TeWi #Colloquium series. It has been a great experience to be back at my former university and to speak about our activities on #Critical #Infrastructure #Protection and the importance of assessing #Cascading #Effects as part of that. It also was very nice to discuss with the colleagues from the #Technical #Faculty, in particular as I have been working together with some of them on some of these concepts in the past! On Monday, I had the great pleasure to give a #Keynote at the #FedCSIS Conference and start off the #RCIS Track. As the track was focusing on the #Resilience of #Critical #Infrastructures, I had the chance to talk about the #Challenges such infrastructures have been facing during COVID-19 and how they can prepare themselves for #Future #Pandemics. The #SUNRISE #Process, which we recently developed as part of the SUNRISE Project is an step-by-step guideline to combine knowledge and data from different domains to build a #Holistic #Approach to improve the resilience of critical infrastructures. Overall, the conference was a splendid experience with interesting #Talks and lively #Discussions in the sessions and during the evenings. Big thanks go to Ivan Luković and his team at University of Belgrade, Faculty of Organizational Sciences for the local organization as well as to conference chairs Marcin Paprzycki, Maria Ganzha and Dominik Ślęzak! It has been a great pleasure and honor to be part of the #IPICS #Summer #School over the last couple of days. I had the chance to present a slot on #Cascading #Effects in Complex #Health #Networks that was developed as part of the CyberSecPro Project together with my colleagues Manuel Egger and Abdelkader Shaaban. With a strong hands-on part, the students were able to use our tool #CASSANDRA and start modeling the #CyberPhysical systems of a #Hospital. Further, we were briefly investigating the effects of a #Ransomware #Attack on the hospital’s imaging systems and how that would affect the general #Health #Services provided by the hospital. Overall, I was amazed by the high #Interest and #Engagement of all the students as well as the perfect #Organization of the summer school in total! Another early morning flight from #Klagenfurt via #Vienna to the wonderful city of #Porto to spend a full week there engaged in different activities as part of the CyberSecPro Project. Together with the colleagues, we will have our review meeting, a general assembly and will also be engaged in the #IPICS24 #Summer #School organized by PDMFC. As part of that summer school, I‘ll have the honor of giving a hands-on lecture on cascading effects in #Complex #Health #Networks tomorrow afternoon. The participants will have the chance to model such networks themselves using our tool #CASSANDRA and to simulate potential #Cascading #Effects to the health infrastructure. #CyberSecurity #Training #PDMFC #IPICS #SummerSchool #ReviewMeeting #GeneralAssembly #EuropeanProject #DigitalEurope #BusinessTravel #ProjectLife

This morning, we started off the #CSP #Summer #School for master and doctoral students as part of our CyberSecPro Project and co-located with #Madeira #Digital #Transformation #Week. Dimitris Koutras was giving a general introduction into the topic of #Cyber #Security, Pasi Kämppi followed with more fundamental aspects of #Network #Security and my colleague Abdelkader Shaaban concluded the morning sessions with a closer look at #Cryptography and #Internet #Security #Protocols. Looking forward to two more days particularly looking into security aspects within the 🏥 #Health and 🔌#Energy sectors.

Early morning trip 🚅 to #Vienna for a consortium meeting of our national #KIRAS Project #MERCURIUS. Looking forward to further discuss and develop our approach to model #Critical #Supply #Chains in #Austria.
