Did you know that the Ministerio de Salud Pública de la República Dominicana has developed a #AntimicrobialResistance (AMR) strategy? As part of our National One Health Strategy, set to launch before the end of 2024, we're taking decisive action to address one of the most urgent threats to global health and security. Our strategy includes a dedicated focus on AMR, backed by an intersectoral agreement between agriculture, environment, and public health. We've strengthened our laboratory networks to enhance the detection of antimicrobial resistance and are preparing a comprehensive communication plan to educate both the general public and healthcare workers on responsible antibiotic use. A special recognition goes to the Ministry of Health of the Dominican Republic Victor Atallah for prioritizing this critical issue and leading the way in implementing a multisectoral response that aligns with global efforts. Their commitment ensures that our country is better equipped to prevent and manage the threats posed by drug-resistant infections. This aligns perfectly with the renewed global commitment to combat AMR, highlighted in the recent high-level declaration. Now, more than ever, translating this commitment into action is essential to safeguard global health and ensure that the medicines we rely on remain effective for future generations. #OneHealth #GlobalHealth #Antibiotics #PublicHealth #DominicanRepublic #SustainableDevelopment #Leadership #MiaMottley #MinistryOfHealth #AMR #Innovation #Healthcare
I welcome and congratulate world leaders on their commitment to decisive action on #AntimicrobialResistance. Special thanks to my sister Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley for her leadership to make the declaration a success. If we translate it into action, we will help to track drug resistance, slow it down, expand access to antimicrobial medicines like antibiotics and spur the development of new ones. Big day for global health! #UNGA
