Happy Interns Day! I spoke with one of my clients about the interns she has working with her this summer and she told me about a question she asked each of them recently. She asked each of them what they hadn't worked on yet but wanted to before the end of the summer. I think this is such an important thing to find out. Remember, you have the ability to help a young person determine their future path right now. Talk to your interns. Ask questions. Find out what they love and don't love. Some words of encouragement for summer interns and new grads... You can do this! This may or may not be the first time you've worked a full professional schedule, and that can be a lot! Early alarms, getting dressed and commuting, mentally preparing for a whole work day - it's all new and different than what you experienced being in school. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, but everyone starts somewhere. Ask as many questions as you have, rely on those around you, and know that one month in, you'll be in a completely different spot.
