[About Dragon Boat Festival] Dragon Boat's Day, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in China and some other Asian countries. It typically falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, which corresponds to different dates on the Gregorian calendar each year. Here is a brief introduction about Dragon Boat's Day: 1. Origin and History: The festival is closely associated with the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan, who is said to have drowned himself in the Miluo River during the Warring States period. To prevent fish from eating his body, people paddled boats and threw rice dumplings (zongzi) into the river. This tradition gradually evolved into the Dragon Boat race and eating zongzi on Dragon Boat's Day. 2. Main Activities: -Dragon Boat Racing: The most distinctive activity of Dragon Boat's Day is the dragon boat race. Teams of paddlers race long, narrow boats decorated with dragon heads and tails. This competitive sport requires teamwork, stamina, and strategy. -Eating Zongzi: Zongzi, or rice dumplings, are a traditional food eaten during Dragon Boat's Day. They are made by wrapping glutinous rice and various fillings in bamboo leaves and then steaming or boiling them. Zongzi come in various shapes, sizes, and flavors. 3. Cultural Significance: The Dragon Boat Festival is not only a time for celebration and entertainment, but also a way to honor Qu Yuan's patriotism and sacrifice. The festival embodies the Chinese people's pursuit of harmony, unity, and bravery. The dragon boat race and the making of zongzi have become important cultural symbols that promote traditional Chinese culture and values. 4. Regional Variations: While the basic traditions of Dragon Boat's Day are similar across China, there are also regional variations in the celebration. For example, in some areas, there are additional customs like hanging calamus and mugwort on doors to ward off evil spirits. Additionally, the dragon boat race has also evolved into an international sport, attracting teams from around the world to compete in various events.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival(端午节), is a traditional Chinese holiday with a rich cultural heritage and a variety of customs and activities. Here are the main activities associated with the Dragon Boat Festival: Dragon Boat Racing (赛龙舟): One of the most iconic activities, dragon boat races involve teams paddling in unison in long, narrow boats decorated to resemble dragons. These races are often highly competitive and are accompanied by the rhythmic beating of drums. Eating Zongzi (吃粽子): Zongzi are sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. They can be filled with various ingredients, such as red bean paste, dates, chestnuts, or meat. Eating zongzi is a central tradition of the festival. Honoring Qu Yuan(祭奠屈原): The festival commemorates the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the River to protest against corruption. People honor him by participating in dragon boat races and throwing zongzi into the river, a practice that originated from the legend of trying to keep fish and evil spirits away from his body. Hanging Mugwort and Calamus(挂艾草和菖蒲): People often hang bundles of mugwort and calamus on their doors during the festival. These plants are believed to have protective qualities and can ward off evil spirits and insects. Wearing Perfume Pouches(佩戴香包): Perfume pouches filled with fragrant herbs are worn by children and adults alike. These pouches are believed to protect against disease and evil spirits. Drinking Realgar Wine(喝黄酒): This traditional Chinese alcoholic beverage, made from fermented cereals and flavored with realgar, is consumed to fend off evil spirits and diseases. Tying Five-Color Silk Threads(系五色丝线): People, especially children, wear bracelets made of five-colored silk threads. These threads are believed to have protective qualities and are typically worn until the threads fall off naturally. On 2nd June, we want to teach you how to make zongzi (粽子) and make Perfume Pouches(香包), come and join us. Below is the link to register yourself: https://lnkd.in/eavxsU6a

Keeping busy and having fun on-board your cruise trip✨ One of the best things about cruise ships is the range of activities on board. There’s plenty of opportunities to try something new, and if you decide you don’t like it, you can go and find something else just around the corner! “It depends on the age and choices of each customer, if it’s a family with small children then look towards Norwegian/MSC/Disney and Royal Caribbean whose ships are family-focused and have lots of fun things on board including ice skating, rock climbing and water parks to name a few. If it’s a couple then perhaps look at Celebrity Cruises or Holland America. There’s always lots going on from outdoor games and activities, demonstrations from the chefs and crew, dancing, films – the list is pretty endless so you really can be as active as you want or simply sit back, relax, and let the waiter bring you another beverage! It’s the same story by night; there is plenty of choice on board a cruise ship so you can spend your evening however you want. “From a quiet piano bar, where you can enjoy a cocktail reading a book if that’s what you prefer, to cabaret shows by brilliant entertainers and guest artists are often flown in for one night, you can take part in family games shows like ‘Deal or No Deal’ or ‘Play Your Cards Right’ and it’s usually rounded off by late night disco”. With so much going on onboard and on shore, there’s no way you’ll be able to see and do it all unless you have super-human powers. So, don’t stress about missing stuff. Think about what you actually want to do and don’t worry about trying to fit it all in. Plus, many of the on-board activities will still be open whilst the ship is in port, so you’ll find they are quieter when everyone else is on land. And remember, you’re on holiday, so enjoy the fact that you don’t have to do anything.
