TREECATION!! (Tree work + Vacation) This week, the Arbor Society addressed a stand of pine which had been afflicted by a pine borer. Our client lost about twenty trees due to this devastating pest. The bigger concern are the remaining trees left around this particular reservoir succumbing to the same fate. This community stands to lose all their pine if actions aren’t taken. We dropped info packets that includes direct information for the DIY’ers in the community since it’s very easy to protect, awareness is the key here. Our client hadn’t been to their cabin in roughly six months, they found half their trees had become unhealthy. With the hazards removed, we can now focus on saving the remaining stand and try to get the word out on how to protect against pine borers. If you have concerns about the health of your trees, give us a shout! Here’s a video of the fun we had along the way, not pictures are the trout we caught and the waterfalls we visited! https://lnkd.in/gD29zVvF #arborists #treeguy #propertymanagment #pnw #trees #treecare

Happy World Water Day! It's a great time to reflect on your relationship with water: where does your water come from? How do you connect with your local waterways - rivers, wetlands, lakes, aquifers, oceans? What are your obligations to water? And if you're in Colorado Springs next week, come and join me for a chat about rivers as living entities, and what this can mean for our relationship with them. https://lnkd.in/g2BsWnAp

Today is #WorldWetlandsDay, but every day should be dedicated to raising awareness and protecting the natural resources that are central to our well-being. Did you know that Florida's wetlands are not just beautiful, but also crucial for our environment and well-being? They filter water, prevent flooding, reduce carbon emissions, and support diverse wildlife. 🌊 🐟 🌿 Coastal Resilience Program Coordinator, Haley Cox recently shared with Florida Sea Grant about the environmental role salt marsh wetlands play on the Big Bend region of Florida. A few key takeaways we learned from Haley are: 1- Salt marshes in Florida are culturally & economically significant, supporting communities reliant on seafood production and ecotourism. 2- Salt marshes serve as crucial breeding, nesting, and foraging grounds for bird species, and act as exceptional nurseries for juvenile fish and other organisms by providing shelter from larger predators. 3- Salt marshes absorb, filter, and remove pollutants that impact water quality. ✨ Learn more about preserving Florida's coastline and salt marsh conservation efforts at UF Center for Coastal Solutions ✨ Click the link below to read the full interview and to learn more: https://bit.ly/3HLfa7w

Texas Coast - Value to the Nation. From the natural beaches of Sabine Pass near Port Arthur to the rich diversity of bird and marine wildlife along the Laguna Madre near Port Isabel, the sweep of the Texas coast contains varied and fragile ecosystems juxtaposed with highly industrialized areas that host a national economic powerhouse. The USACE Galveston District is involved in virtually every mile of the 367-mile coastline and plays an integral role in both the preservation of nature’s treasures that are a living part of the Texas coastal region as well as serving and preserving the industries that fuel commerce and power our nation. https://lnkd.in/dH9ZeCyb
