Been preaching this for a while. As L.A. continues to suffer, international film incentives continue to surge and expand. Various states in the U.S. are taking advantage. The world is wide open. Great reporting by Lucia Moses for Business Insider Leaving Los Angeles: Why the film industry is ditching Hollywood https://lnkd.in/gnQjTQZz

North Carolina has lost over 10 billion dollars to the state of Georgia since legislators let our film incentive policy sunset in 2015. North Carolina had a solid competitive advantage and actively employed more folks than the 3,700 figure cited below. TV & film production employed folks across the state, including carpenters, caterers, electricians, and more. North Carolina’s economic development advantage is leveraged through competitive incentive programs. A frequent false narrative is that they are not “permanent” jobs. A solid production pipeline facilitates annual employment across the state, attracts a diversified workforce who will live, work and spend money in state, increasing tax revenue for the state, without having to raise taxes to overcompensate for the revenue losses. North Carolina has the opportunity to facilitate extensive workforce development via University of North Carolina School of the Arts and our other Universities and our extensive community college system, actively investing in economic diversification to keep North Carolina more strategically dominant in our developing global economy. Partisan & identity politics is not smart pro-growth economic development policy. Coalition building to create a better quality of life for all fellow North Carolinians is our path to a brighter future.
Happy #NationalCinemaDay North Carolina! Our state's vibrant #filmindustry boasts an average annual in-state spend of $179 million and supports 3,700+ talented film professionals. Here’s to the movie magic made in the Tar Heel State! 🍿🎥 #NCFilm

After being part of the "Middle Earth Trilogy" films two decades ago, Miranda Otto didn't expect to be going back to Middle Earth again, so she's thrilled to be a part of a new animated "Lord of the Rings" film. #LordOfTheRings #WarOfTheRohirrim #MiddleEarth #mirandaotto #lordoftheringsthewaroftherohirrim #LOTR #movies #movienews #Entertainment #Entertainmentnews #Celebrities #Celebrity #celebritynews #celebrityinterviews

I chatted to Gianluca Chakra (the visionary founder of Front Row Filmed Entertainment) about the state of the film industry in the Middle East, and the challenges of the region when it comes to film distribution. Gianluca shared insights into building a film distribution company, why everyone needs to watch Robbie Williams as an ape, and how George Clooney is one of the most fun Hollywood celebs he has met. https://lnkd.in/dsDCwWJg
