Ever wonder why bronze medalists seem happier than silver medalists at the Olympics? It all comes down to perspective. Bronze medalists are often just thrilled to be on the podium, comparing themselves to those who didn’t and feeling grateful they made it. Silver medalists, on the other hand, can’t help but think about how close they were to winning gold, which can be a bit of a downer. It’s a fascinating example of how our mindset shapes our happiness. It’s not just about the outcome but how we choose to see it. Whether it’s in sports or life, focusing on what we’ve achieved rather than what we missed can make all the difference. #Olympics #Mindset #Happiness #Perspective #growth

We’ve gained invaluable lessons from Paralympic athletes — how to set ambitious goals, find courage, and stay motivated. But most importantly, we’ve learned the significance of a supportive team that shares a common goal. With this in mind, we decided to ask our colleagues: how does this resonate with them? Giedrė Mažūnienė, a Sales Team Lead heading an international group of Key Account Managers, shared her thoughts: “It is challenging to achieve professional goals without a team, because a team is made up of diverse individuals with unique experiences, perspectives, and life challenges. By complementing each other’s strengths and weaknesses, we balance each other as a team.” Discover what qualities connect Paralympians with the Girteka team in the video below, and join our team here: https://lnkd.in/dGKbRE_H

Co-Founder of Will It Make The Boat Go Faster? Ltd - Author of ‘Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?’ - Keynote Speaker - Performance Consultant - Olympic Gold Medallist
What sets a high performing team apart from the rest? If you think about it, winners and losers often have the same goal. Every single crew in the 2000 final of our Sydney race wanted that gold. So, what set us apart? 🥇 What made the difference in us clinching gold vs the Aussies, Italians or Croatians? In my opinion, there were two key fundamentals that made the difference from coming last to winning a Gold Medal at the Sydney Olympics (you’ve got to have both): 1) Having a common goal (a "3Ms" goal) 🎯 2) Fostering the high-performance culture and behaviours that would get us there. 🤝 Delighted to share more fully what I mean by these in my new article below 👇👇: https://bit.ly/4atKhkU In 1998 we were a rubbish team, by 2000 we were a good team. You've got to work on the team as much as the outcome. #team #goal #gold #performance #olympics Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?

#NeerajChopra’s #ParisOlympics silver medal is a tremendous achievement many athletes can only dream of. But why does it feel like the celebration isn’t as loud as it should be? The answer lies in the #expectations that #success brings. When Neeraj won gold last time during the Tokyo #Olympics, he became a national hero. The whole country cheered, and with that victory came a new set of expectations: anything less than gold is seen as a step-down! This isn’t just limited to sports. In the corporate world, we face the same challenge. Deliver an outstanding performance one year, and suddenly that becomes your new baseline. The targets get higher, the pressure mounts and the room for error shrinks. It’s no wonder that many professionals find themselves playing it safe, avoiding risks, and sticking to what’s worked before because failure isn’t an option. But here’s the thing: when we’re driven solely by expectations, we lose sight of the bigger picture. Innovation, creativity, and growth often come from taking risks and stepping out of our comfort zones. Sometimes, it’s okay not to hit the highest target. It’s okay to have a bad year. What’s important is how do we adapt, learn, and keep moving forward. #HumanNature
