Here's one reason to give your child, classroom, or educators the STEM advantage: Opening Doors to the Future. STEM subjects like Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are like keys that unlock so many opportunities for your child's future. By studying these subjects, they learn to think critically, solve problems, and come up with creative ideas. This is super important because it helps them become the innovators and inventors of tomorrow, making cool new discoveries and technologies that can change the world for the better. As an educator it is my duty to excite others about these subjects. That is why I offer STEMulating activities and workshops for both students and fellow educators. “For many, the hardness of STEM is associated with it being academically challenging and with folks not being able to engage with it. In reality, the hardness is about the inflexibility of STEM and the fact that it does not bend to the needs of the person engaging with it. If I attempt to engage with a topic and find it hard, I blame myself without considering that there is something about the subject that is unapproachable. The perception is that the fault cannot possibly be with the academic subject or the methods used to teach it. This flawed approach to thinking about STEM does not consider the more expansive view of the concept of hardness and the notion that if the subject bends to me or my interests, I can forge a relationship to it that increases my desire to spend more time with it. Time spent equals familiarity. And familiarity eventually equals fluency in the language of the “hard” subject. What is hard becomes malleable enough to wrap around you once you are familiar with the language it speaks.” https://lnkd.in/gaqB7mqD?

'Emotion Into Art' ~ Motivational Speaking/Speed Painting ~ K-12 Schools, Social Work, Colleges, Corporate, Sports, Military, Charities
Chinese traditional [classroom culture] is teacher-centered while STEM education advocates student-centered [classroom culture]... Could Chinese students also benefit from it like western students ... [since] the real impact of ... this [curricular innovation] ... had never been examined? ... [I am] confused about [its] effectiveness in China... This current study confirmed prior findings that teachers with high self-motivation are more likely to up-regulate positive emotions (e.g., Kamila et al., 2014). For instance, although Sunjie knew that she would encounter numerous challenges and difficulties, she motivated herself to make more efforts to be a great STEM teacher and stay enthusiastic to overcome challenges. Also, as an explorer, Sunjie stated that she always motivated herself to stay active in doing what she loved and wanted to do. Self-motivation helped her remain enthusiastic. Therefore, self-motivation might be regarded as one of the most significant determinants of teachers’ positive emotions. https://lnkd.in/g46Tv2dT ~ #emotionintoart #motivation #motivational #motivationalspeaker #motivationalspeaking

🔬📚 Calling all administrators! 📣 Let's talk about the importance of science and STEM education in our schools. 🌟 It's disheartening to hear phrases like, "We don't have time for science right now, we are focusing on ELA." As a former administrator myself, I don't recall learning about sacrificing science and STEM to prioritize math and ELA scores in my credential program. In fact, interdisciplinary instruction was emphasized as a way to promote cross-curricular connections and enhance student retention. 💡 Research from organizations like Ed Trust West highlights the significant benefits of leveraging science education to support English Learner language acquisition. Science isn't just a standalone subject—it's a gateway to critical thinking, problem-solving, and language development for all students. 🌈 So how do we shift the narrative and ensure that science and STEM receive the attention they deserve, especially in elementary schools? It starts with advocacy and awareness. We must remind our educational leaders of the research-backed benefits of science education and the importance of equity and access for all students. 🚀 By promoting science and STEM in our schools, we're not just preparing future scientists and engineers; we're fostering a generation of creative thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers who will shape the world. Let's champion STEM education as a pathway to equity and opportunity for every student. #ScienceEducation #STEMforAll #EquityInEducation #InterdisciplinaryLearning #EdLeadership #CrossCurricularConnections #StudentRetention #LanguageAcquisition #FutureInnovators #EducationalEquity 📸 @workplaybranding
