It’s not always about learning something new. It’s presenting a different way of looking at something you already know, a different way. Chances are you already have the information. The frame surrounding your understanding needs to change. Thus, the thing you already know comes to clarity. More information is not always the answer, rather changing the way information is received. Let’s GROW!

If you want success in your career, professional development is one path to get there quicker but there are quite a few things to consider before you embark on that learning journey. Firstly, think about what options are available to you and how those options are delivered. Online learning is the most common but that could mean self-paced learning and also live classes. Live classes are more engaging and you can develop a strong sense of support with the instructor and other students but you need to be on time. The completion rate is around 80%. Self-paced learning is more convenient but you may not be as motivated to complete the courses on your own if there are no timelines. The completion rate for these types of courses is under 20%. You also have the option for in-person classes but those require more of your time due to the travel and you may be tired if you are attending them after work. But what about the content? Ask yourself: 1. What do I want to learn more about? 2. What am I passionate about? 3. What can challenge me? Avoid fads. For example: AI. Yes, AI is revolutionary but the world doesn't need 1,000,000,000 prompt engineers. Sorry. Find what works for you and if you are no longer enjoying it, drop it and find something else. Professional development is a time investment. Invest in something you enjoy. #motivation #leadership #learning #coaching

When I talk about #ai, I find myself reminding folks about the time when personal computers arrived on office desk tops. 👾 💾 Desktops and now laptops are the primary tool for professional interaction (email, zoom, content development). 🤖 #ai is changing our work culture again. Right down to the very tools we use to engage and interact. You may not remember the luddites that eschewed the computers placed on their desk tops … I do. Folks lost jobs. Job descriptions changed. Professional expertise withered (Secretary to the Board, complete with shorthand note taking ability … she retired). Stay relevant. Be brave, curious and resilient. Learn #ai. Never fear failure; what one should fear is mediocrity. Constantly striving to learn something new is essential, as failing is an integral part of the learning process. When one fears failure, they inadvertently fear learning. People may fear failing because they worry it will affect their career or reputation. So, how can they overcome this fear in an environment where failure is frowned upon? The key is to fail fast so they can recover quickly. To do this, they should break down tasks into small, manageable, and repeatable actions. Experimenting and failing in these small actions will allow them to learn how to perform them more efficiently and effectively without impacting the overarching task. Over time, these small improvements will accumulate, providing significant benefits to both the individual and the organisation they work for. Embracing failure as a learning opportunity can lead to innovation and growth. Even if the working environment leaves little room for failure, one can shrink the effects of failure to fit it and make it feel like a big room for experimentation. #ContinuousImprovement

Are you a lifelong learner? Why do I ask? You've heard the phrase "learners are earners"! Well, it's true. Even dogs can learn, right? I've always been amazing at the process of learning new things and for whatever reason have always had an insatiable appetite for learning new things. Almost too much. When I was a teacher, I loved mastering the process of learning! With the advent of AI here to stay and the rate of progress speeding up, I'm seeking leaders who are staying up with the latest trends & learning which is why I will usually ask candidates what they are currently reading or learning that's having an impact? What or who are you a student of right now? Who are your mentors? To predict the future, ask yourself how and what you're learning to become a person of value now! THAT will tell you who you'll be tomorrow! #Value #Development #Learning #4Klo
