Embracing the Future of Education! In the ever-evolving world, approach to education has transformed with the digital revolution. As we navigate the 21st century, the integration of STEM, STEAM, and STREAM has become pivotal. STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics STEM offers a comprehensive learning approach, merging subjects to unveil endless possibilities. From building bridges to basic programming, it lays the foundation for a holistic understanding. STEAM: STEM + Arts STEAM, an extension of STEM, incorporates arts, nurturing not just scientific minds but artistic expressions. Seed necklaces and ice-cream stick bridges demonstrate the fusion of science and creativity. STREAM: STEM + Reading and Writing Recognizing the importance of literacy, STREAM adds reading and writing to STEM, fostering critical thinking alongside technical skills. It's about more than equations; it's about storytelling and understanding complex concepts. What are your thoughts on the evolving landscape of education? Do you see a particular curriculum as more beneficial, or do you believe in a balanced approach? #EducationEvolution #STEMvsSTEAMvsSTREAM #FutureOfLearning

Congratulations to University of California, Berkeley Associate Professor Zach Pardos and his team doctoral student Ioannis Anastasopoulos, UC Berkeley Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences (EECS) undergraduate Shreya Bhandari, and doctoral student Yunting Liu for their winning research with OATutor in the Tools Competition. OATutor is the first open-source adaptive tutoring system grounded in Intelligent Tutoring Systems principles. The team is developing a technology that autonomously generates a computer tutor capable of covering any lower-division college STEM subject. Utilizing large language models (LLMs), their approach aims to rapidly produce content that not only meets the specific needs of educators but also appeals to the unique experiences and career goals of adult learners. The Tools Competition is administered by The Learning Agency and Georgia State University. OATutor's success in the Growth category comes with a $150,000 award. OATutor was selected from more than 1,900 submissions worldwide. Collectively, winners were awarded more than $8 million, and their tools are projected to impact more than 24 million learners by 2027. Winning solutions will play a key role in accelerating and better assessing K-12 learning outcomes, strengthening 21st-century skills, boosting the impact of early childhood instruction, facilitating the learning science research process, engaging adult learners in higher education, and training and upskilling learners for an adaptive workforce — all while advancing the field of learning engineering. To support the STEM education pilot, we have science teachers creating resource materials that will eventually be published as textbooks when the STEM program is adopted nationally. Students will get to understand Mathematics as a model to represent the relationships between variables in a problem, science methodology as a way to make and test assumptions of a problem and engineering design as a method for creating solutions that people can use. We connect students from technical colleges with science students. That way technical students will build the physical prototypes of the solutions science students come up with. The get to learn collaboration. This is the Project-Based learning in STEM Education pilot. #stem #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #sdgs #unsdgs #engineering

🎉🎉🎉🎉Congratulations to all A-level students getting their results today! A wonderful year for #STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects. The popularity of STEM has surged, with entries in both computing and physics on the rise. The gap in achievement between male and female students in STEM is narrowing and the number of top grades has increased in #computing 🎊. To know more, check out the excellent analysis from my colleague Sarah Smith at STEM Learning UK 👇🏼

🌟 New Publication Alert! 🌟 Excited to announce the publication of our latest research paper titled "Investigating the effect of multiple try-feedback on students' computational thinking skills through an online inquiry-based learning platform" in the "Educational Technology Research and Development" journal. 🔍Our research explores the impact of multiple try-feedback with problem-specific hints on high school students' computational thinking (CT) skills using the CT-ONLINQ platform. This study underscores the effectiveness of inquiry-based learning (IBL) pedagogy in enhancing CT skills and provides valuable insights for educators and platform designers on effective feedback strategies in programming education. 📖 Read the full paper here:https://lnkd.in/d6kurys7 👏 Kudos to my co-authors: Nitesh Kumar Jha Plaban Kumar Bhowmik Let's continue to innovate and make learning more effective and inclusive! 🚀 #computationalthinking #inquirybasedlearning #immediatefeedback #CTSkills #FeedbackStrategies #STEMEducation #EducationalTechnology #21stcenturyskills #STEM #EdTechResearch #StudentEngagement #EducationForAll #EquityInEducation #TeachingStrategies #EducationMatters #OnlineLearning #EdResearch #TechInEducation #DigitalLearning #EducationInnovation

Chief Growth & Strategy - Propel Curriculum | Founder - Founder - Uncover Math Genius| AIoT Infinity Box | Practicing Child-Led Alternative Education for my 2 children
Somedays back, a principal of a school asked me - What is the 1 advice would you give to us (an Institution) in a period of such rapid technological changes? Many say that the education system needs to be changed, It won't survive any longer. The schools would die... and a whole lot of other things... My answer was that schools can only survive this period if they go back to the basics and do them well. And the basics are - Taking care of Math, Language, and Art (including music, and dance) education. Let me explain: Everything else may change... what is taught in history may change, geography may change, even science may change and computer science is definitely changing (and coding, which was recently the most sought-after career, may not be a profession shortly!) BUT Math will never change. In fact, it is the one subject that will be the same on any other planet as well - the thing which is 1, added to the 1 more of the same thing will always be 2 on Earth or anywhere else in the Universe, and during any stage of technological evolution! Language & art - is the way we communicate and express ourselves which will become even more important going forward when most of the mechanical tasks will be automated and taken care of by machines. So humans will need to be more humane, and more expressive and that can only happen through language/s) So if a school can ensure good quality Math, language, and art learning; it can never face an existential crisis! Which is very very simple! But simplicity has always been the most difficult virtue and not valued by many...

"One of the reasons students at two-year institutions and many publics don’t make it past the first year is that they don’t do well in lower-level mathematics. If we look at every institution, we will see that many are still teaching that math course the way they did 50 years ago. There’s a need for the difficult conversation. What we did at UMBC was to have those difficult conversations, and faculty wanted to work on course redesign—and to rethink, for example, first-year chemistry. They gave it more than just a lecture approach, and used collaborative learning, active learning, professional development, use of technology, real-time assessments, and group work." https://lnkd.in/eS7BHx4Q
