4 years at Lindström have flown by like a breeze! OK, I will be honest, it has not been just a breeze 😅 Rather like a day of Latvian summer – some hours of sun and warmth, then a few gusts of strong wind, and after a moment of storm, everything is perfect again. Overall, it has been a positive, fun and educational journey and I am still hungry for more professional adventures. The biggest lessons I have learned: 🍎 Managing a company where almost half of the employees work in a laundry is significantly more exciting and challenging than being responsible only for office staff and processes. 🍎 Instead of only focusing on only people and their routines, I am today also responsible for technological processes and equipment, their maintenance, improvement and enhancing production efficiency – this factor has given me a much broader experience than any company I have ever worked at.   🍎 Appreciative leadership style is definitely best suited to me – I continue to nurture and develop this approach, constantly seeking for ways how to allow my team members use and benefit their various strengths.   🍎Working in a company whose values completely align with my own has been a crucial additional motivation. To all the people who are out there considering a career change or already in search of a new job: dare to jump into the unknown and find the mission close to your heart. September marks my 3rd month at Tide, and what truly stands out are the values. Before I engage with or interview an organization, my first action is to read and digest its mission, vision, values, and philosophy. I use these statements as a compass to guide my questions and understand if 'we' are a good fit for working together. Many organizations do not use these statements for team building or training or even as a guiding compass for continual quality improvement. Yesterday, I brought the organization's mission & values statements to a team meeting. Clarity is needed as disagreement and confusion are high regarding handling x,y, and z situations. Turnover in critical positions and burnout are common here. I asked,  "Who here uses the mission statement and values of x company to guide your day-to-day decisions? No one raised their hands. When I asked,  "Who knows the mission of x company?" No one raised their hands. It is clear that the organization  does not engage team members  with a united mission, purpose, and values. "Your mission remains underutilized when you seek to improve your organization's success, productivity and performance without focusing on the mission. When you fail to unite brand and culture with mission, you fail your employees and customers. When you promote your mission to your employees, it results in a higher level of employee engagement and positive work culture, keeping them invested in the good work your company does when they go about their day-to-day tasks."
