"Apparently customer service wasn't shit enough with real people, now they're ready to plumb new depths with AI" I saw this comment in reference to Google cutting another 30,000 ad department jobs, and I believe this represents the path most companies will take moving forward. I mean think about it, a lot of companies have struggled to improve customer service's poor reputation despite spending heavily on training and management for decades. Now, AI solutions can often perform better for a fraction of the cost with some refinement. Replacing customer service roles with AI is an obvious choice for companies seeking to maximize profits in any capitalist country. If the day-to-day tasks of a job lack any sort of need for authenticity, or are highly repetitive in nature, and don't require all too much EQ, It's a job that's going to get replaced by AI. How do you safeguard yourself from this? Figure out something you can develop subject matter expertise in that requires a human touch, EQ, and authenticity. For now AI, just like say calculators, excels in specific tasks but lacks the ability to innovate or understand underlying principles, a domain reserved for human expertise. While it may automate certain jobs, it also creates new opportunities and demands for skills that AI cannot replicate. Invest your time in developing deep expertise in something you can be passionate about. https://lnkd.in/gbssNs3u
I am betting my entire future in business on people, and not AI. Call me crazy but humans will win out.
Simple. Not in their corner. AI is a fallacy. You some. Period!! LinkedIN is AI generated. Cancelled my subscription. $75.00 a month for what! Miss the good one's. Sincerely
People underestimate the negative impact AI will have for humanity - I still catch myself underestimating all the time still. There’s a pretty cool book I happened to find at half priced books called “enchanted objects” where the author talks about his worst fear at the time - a world filled with emotionless, flat, cold touch screens for every interaction in life. This happened. I often project his fear of mobile devices into this new AI world and wonder where we’re headed. I remember a time where I couldn’t get to work due to a dead car battery. No Uber. No cell phones. All I had was myself. So I walked to an automotive store and bought a battery with paper money them carried it back. Round trip probably 6 miles. I was late to work but I still made it in to run the cash register at TCBY. I mean, I’m so torn over this AI revolution I post comments like this lol. “I walked to school uphill both ways back in my day!!” I’m hoping for the best but preparing for something “less good.” Best advice I’ve gotten is to put my time, energy and money into things AI cannot create more of. Land, Bitcoin… etc. Hard assets have never been more important.
In my experience with cutomer support, for basic problems AI is better and faster but when it comes to something complex we need a human especially with payroll companies and crypto exchanges
I think AI can be a tool that helps humans be more productive in their jobs so they have more time with their family and loved ones. Seeing how much hallucinations happen in my day to day with chat based models — I am very reluctant to turn over all decisions to it.

10moIs it true that AI customer service is better? 🧐🧐🧐 I tried Comcast customer service and I prefer real humans. The chatbots are so annoying. Finally, a lovely lady who had awesome customer service helped me! It was a wonderful experience talking to her about Colorado. 🥰🥰🥰 We need REAL customer service. What that means is real people who are trained on the ins and outs about the company products and not contractors who can only perform within the protocols or written script!!! I had a crazy experience talking in circle with 3 different Amazon representatives. Finally I gave up… 😳😳😆
