ERI got a shout out from faculty affiliate and expert Gerard Robinson in this article on WalletHub regarding a ranking of states’ school systems. What a shameful, disingenuous, deceitful, rhetoric on how the government is to increase learning! None of the increase in learning the Prime Minister Christopher Luxon 𝕃𝕀𝕍𝔼🔴 was speaking of will reach the students the Ministry of Education has classed as “ineligible” and cancelled their school buses. The MoE has just downsized and cancelled primary school bus runs throughout Hawkes Bay, how do they expect the children that can’t get to school to receive any of their so called educational improvements. 8 X 50 seater rural feeder buses are to be cancelled at the beginning of next year leaving 400 students stranded on the road side. How do those students partake in this new rollout of teaching? They can’t! The Ministry of Education deliberately targetting Hawkes Bay when it is still reeling from Gabrielle, is shameful, and deceitful given the rhetoric in this press conference. MoE has the gall, perversion, the misconduct, to target the cancellation while they know that discussions are being had about improving teaching, school attendance, and in direct conflict wiith the ERO 2022 report on Truancy There is a huge disconnect between the Minister Hon Erica Stanford MP and the MoE or the government is lying to us. We are told that the Minister Hon Erica Stanford MP will not interfere with operational aspects of the MoE. However the Government has interfered with the NZTA, and with the Railways. And now are interfering with the MoE on teaching. However, stand absolutely silent on the cancelled bus routes There are around 1000 students whose lives have been turned into chaos. There is the same number of families facing fear, chaos, and stress as they lose the ability to get their children to school. The families now have to chose what options they will take over the next couple of months. Sell up, or stop employment and move to town to educate their children. The government have knowingly done this – we have been telling them. This press conference crows about the changes they are making while deliberately tossing rural students on the scrap heap. It is shameful and deceitful behaviour. It is even more disgraceful when they ignore correspondence from the community and give no reply.  Hon Erica Stanford MP needs to reverse the cancellations and downsizing of the school bus routes immediately
