The Bruce Banner of unmanned aviation

The way the US military purchases (fair trade, organic, single sourced, dolphin safe) equipment is beyond rediculous… Time to make a dramatic change in policy that drives the process. *wild ideas: 1. Competitive free market sourcing at the unit level. 2. Put an end to the “gotta spend my whole budget, or they’ll give me less next year” mentality/policy. How else should we correct the process?

This is so bad… The US Air Force is Paying $90,000 for a Bag of Bushings that Normally Costs well under $20 at Home Depot WALTZ: How much do you think the Air Force pays for this bag of bushings? USAF SEC. KENDALL: I don’t know, Congressman. WALTZ: $90,000. There is no accountability… no checks and balances. Our tax-dollars hard at work.

Hate all this grandstanding. Implying that this is "just" a bag of bushings without context is like says the part failure that kill everyone on challenger on national TV was "just" an o-ring.

Nothing new. My brother had the same problem serving in Vietnam. Needed o-rings, couldn't get at any price. I suggested writing the president of the company that made the equipment, but I dont think he ever did.
