Balfour Beatty VINCI has hit the 50% completion mark on the 700-metre-long Burton Green Tunnel in Warwickshire, a structure that sets itself apart due to its unique green characteristics. 🛤️ The tunnel, designed with the community in mind, will feature a green space above, blending seamlessly with the local landscape.🌳 It’s one of five ‘green tunnels’ on the HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd route, designed to allow trains to pass through while minimising environmental impact. 📢 An interesting post from Arup in regards to HS1 and it's positive effects on London's economy over the last few decades: 📈 From 2010 to 2021, jobs in the King's Cross area surged from 8,000 to nearly 30,000 📈 The line contributes over £427m in annual economic benefits to both the UK and continental Europe. 📈 Projections suggest it will yield regeneration benefits of at least £10b over the next five decades. 🤔 Could HS2 replicate this success in the Midlands? Fehily Timoney and Company have been appointed by Wexford County Council to provide Technical Consultancy Services for the Gorey Relief Road (Ballytegan Avenue) which will connect the Ballytegan Road to the R772 Arklow Road, and will include a combined road and rail overbridge over the Dublin – Rosslare railway and the R772. Services to be provided for this scheme are for Stage (i) Preliminary Design and Development Consent Process. The Ballytegan Avenue will support the delivery of a sustainable neighbourhood as set out in the St. Waleran’s Demesne Masterplan. This strategic infrastructure will also ease traffic congestion through the centre of Gorey and is also intended to accommodate sustainable modes of travel including pedestrians, cyclists and local public transport. Saw this and sounds like common sense has stepped in here, really glad to see the new plans for Euston (one concourse for both NR and HS2 lines) A Unified Vision for Euston Station 🚆 Rail Minister Lord Hendy shared insights into this ambitious masterplan, which integrates the HS2 terminus, the current Network Rail station, the London Underground, and housing developments above. The goal? A streamlined, passenger-focused experience that avoids the confusion of separate stations. 📌 Key highlights: ✅ A single concourse for seamless travel ✅ Redevelopment of the Network Rail station ✅ Integration with the London Underground ✅ Space for new homes and jobs, fostering growth in the life sciences quarter This bold approach ensures that Euston is not just a station but a vibrant destination that connects people, businesses, and communities. With a focus on collaboration, cost-effective design, and private investment, the vision is to make Euston a world-class gateway to London and beyond. While challenges remain, including funding and delivering a unified design, the progress made so far signals a promising future.

This is Scope 3 emissions reporting in action... Lang O'Rourke has set emissions limits on its concrete. Perhaps (finally) we will see #greencrete get a foothold in the Australian #builtenvironment. I like that they've made their carbon limits public too, for example 50MPa concrete can have no more tha 300kgCO2 per sq metre.
