Here’s our manifesto for meetings ✍️ With the UK general election happening tomorrow, we thought we’d get in the spirit of things by writing a quick manifesto for meetings at work. 🙅 No scheduling meetings over lunch time, after 5pm on a Friday, or during Euro fixtures 🙅 No setting up meetings without a clear agenda (especially if it’s your manager asking for a ‘quick word’) 🙅 No organizing meetings that could have been an email 🙅 No taking meetings at your desk without headphones 🙅 No using a massive boardroom for a two-person meeting 🙅 No asking ‘can you see my screen?’ (yes, we can) 🙅 No saying ‘I’m going to give you 10 minutes of your life back!’ Got any more to add? We need a version of the yamraj for office meetings, the office should have a board "Do meeting responsibly", the "drink responsibly" version for offices. Meetings are a two-edged sword, it cuts you more often than the purpose :). Biggest pitfall: It gives you a 10x higher feeling of achievement than what it achieves - Just because you said, it won't get done - Just because you taught, others will not learn - Just because you warned, it will not be avoided Just because you did a meeting, it won't get executed Don't be fooled by the feeling of meeting, we all need to rethink our meeting strategies, we are calling a meeting today to discuss the same :)
