Recruiting can be a challenging job. There are times when even after putting in all the effort, things don't go as planned. It's tough, but taking a moment to breathe can be a game-changer. To all the recruiters out there, I see you. I know you're working tirelessly for your candidates. Keep going! Remember, a small pause doesn't mean giving up. #recruitinglife #keepgoing #motivation

How would you respond to this situation? Would you need to take a time out, or would you find a way to make another placement? (and for clarification, it's always good to take a breath and regain strength. There is not much downside to getting past the feeling, or through it, and hopping back on your feet as quickly as possible). When adversity strikes, ask yourself, “How can I use this to my advantage?” Your next placement is just around the corner. Before you go and dwell on the eternal unfairness that life seems to dole out day after day, why not try to harvest opportunity out of adversity? There is always a solution to every problem but to do this effectively it takes resilience and creativity; an understanding of stoic philosophy can help out as well. With all due respect, this is why most recruiters will never reach their full potential. They know how to make placements, but they mentally give up too soon when what appears to be adversity strikes. They will do anything to avoid the sting of disappointment instead of accepting it and even harnessing it as a leverageable resource.

This is SOOOO accurate. Only more times than not, this news comes when we are at the offer stage of the process. Please know that recruiters are the middle guy/gals. A lot of us recruiters take the time to get to know the candidates we feel are strongest for the role. We begin to understand their personal need for the role to work out. We listen to them describe their distrust in the job seeking process, only to end up being one of those companies we shook our heads at.... Mind you the leadership swore to us that we could move forward with this role. So, we are just as flabergasted as you are. We too need mental health breaks before we can relay the breaking news sometimes. Go easy on us when we do. It makes a difference, as we are people too. #RecruitersHaveFeelingsToo
