Association CEO - Strategic Marketer - Chief Executive Officer at EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA)
Later this week, I’m going to attend ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership ‘s Annual Meeting & Expo in Cleveland. I believe this show will be a worthwhile endeavor because ASAE is the « association for associations », and the trade association sector (which includes the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA)) is unlike others. Here’s why. « Business associations » primarily promote the business interests of its members, but they follow specific rules and practices as 501 (c)(6) nonprofit entities such as issuing publicly available tax returns, working on behalf of the industry, etc. The Internal Revenue Service provides a good overview of associations right here https://lnkd.in/eYtmj7b. Moreover, associations represent a bigger part of the economy than people may think. When including real estate boards, chambers of commerce, trade associations, manufacturer associations, and many agricultural organizations, the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that this category (#NAICS code 813910) had over 104,000 employees and an annual payroll of over $10B in 2022.
