Bar Management, Bar/Venue set-up, Restaurant Management, Staff trainer, Hospitality business advisor
Had an a belter of a shift last night, all the staff worked in unison the like of which synchronised swimming has yet to see, so here’s a post to them! Let's give a round of applause to all the unsung heroes of the hospitality industry; the hard-working servers, bartenders, and kitchen wizards who keep the show running smoothly while their managers are off in the corner, perfecting the art of micro-management and enjoying a leisurely snack. It's like watching a real-life sitcom unfold: while the staff hustle and bustle, the managers are on their own little island of snacks and sips, occasionally chiming in with directives that seem to come straight out of left field. But hey, let's not judge too harshly. Maybe they're just practicing for the upcoming "Micro-Management Olympics" or trying to win the award for "Most Snacks Consumed During a Single Shift." After all, everyone needs a hobby, right? So here's to the grafters who keep the wheels turning and the managers who... well, who knows what they're doing over there? Keep up the good work, team, and remember to take a snack break every now and then—you've earned it! 🥂 #HospitalityHeroes #SnacksAndService #JustJokes

Wonderful World 🌍 Wednesday Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent | England Last night, we went to a local pub in leafy Tunbridge Wells for dinner. It came highly recommended and we were excited to check it out. We walked through the door, glanced at the clock and saw it was 8.32. We asked the Boss if dinner was still possible, and the answer was a hard no. “The kitchen shut at 8.30”, he said and then walked off. No eye contact, no connection. Just a hard No. A waitress saw the exchange, said she could ask the chef to make a sharing plate of cold meat, but we needed real food. After a long day, we didn’t really fancy leaving, but we did, in search of a hot meal and a warm welcome. We walked around for a while as it was a beautiful evening, a tad bemused. In the end, we found a charming little tapas and wine bar. The service was flawless, with excellent attention to tiny details. And the food was delicious. The stark contrast between the two venues got me thinking about the importance of service. And the importance of connection. First off, for the publican to be so short-sighted by being so stringent with time, he must be under too much pressure. There’s no way that a happy employee working in hospitality would treat a potential customer in such an unfriendly manner. No dinner, ok – but delivery is oftentimes as important as the message itself. If your employees are client facing – how do you check-in to be sure they are conveying the essence of your brand ethos? Are you providing an environment where your team can call each other out if they are slipping on service? How can we continue as leaders to encourage our teams to drop the devices, socialise with each other and cultivate an environment that encourages connection? I truly believe the pandemic effects are still rippling through society and we need to go back to base and remember to be human. Maybe even to re-learn a few things. Never underestimate the power of connection. #wonderfulwednesday

Now you'll know exactly what skill(over time) that each worker for front of the house and back of the house employees. As a future employee you will know exactly who you are going to go work for based on reviews by full time employees for each business. Basically in short we've created a safe space to find education from professionals from, what we hope, will be from all over the world. -Share what you know and what you've learned in the hospitality industry. -Grow your skills and learn knowledge from the actual industry. (You then receive credit for every class you attend) This was a monumental task of being fair to both the worker and the business, while creating a place for incentivized/motivated workers. Then provide clarity and transparency for workers in each restaurant and hospitality business. Our Goals in 2024 are to increase our Instructor and worker base as well as increase our job listings for those workers. It's simple. Grow and create a space for hospitality workers. I don't know of any platform that provides these two things solely for the hospitality industry. I've worked in this industry for 23 years as a Busser, bartender, bar manager, Servers and even GM.(I found a whole new respect for managers, not real fun) Please help us grow our user base by signing up for free at https://lnkd.in/g46s7Bkx (free forever for workers) and help us grow this platform. Have you tried Breakfast Wine? Well, let me tell you… I am a nervous flyer, but I don’t let that keep me from business trips, time with family and vacations. I know in my head that flying is safe but I still get nervous and my heart races, even after hundreds of flights. I learned that for me wine helps, a lot, no matter what time of day. So I use it, and I do all that I can to prepare for a comfortable trip. What are you nervous about? Is it something that is holding you back? Is there something that can help you get past it? Don’t let unreasonable fear hold you back from living life to the fullest. Public speaking, important meetings, making mistakes, failure, looking ridiculous with food on your blouse…there are lots of scary things. But I don’t let that keep me from doing things I need to do, I just prepare, I keep learning about new tools to be successful and I don’t worry about people judging me for my breakfast wine. #dontmissout #livelife #breakfastwine #frequentflyer #confidence Mumford HR Consulting-HR Solutions
