Helping High Achievers Create Sustainable Well-being • Founder & CEO • Keynote Speaker • Certified Wellness & Life Coach• Mental Health Advocate (Read About Section)
I’m a fierce advocate for early career physician wellbeing in specific and healthcare worker wellness at large. Physician life in the first seven years after training is challenging. Doctors are not just launching their medical careers but also their lives outsides of medicine. They have unique challenges. That require unique support. And - the worst part is they mostly have to project that they have neither challenges nor need support so they are viewed as being “competent” or “worthy” or “strong”. Thank you Jillian Rigert, DMD, MD for the opportunity to publicly accept how I needed help and how I had to overcome my own perfectionistic demons to take that step towards asking for help. I so appreciate you for the safe space you create for these raw and honest conversations in a world with ever-diminishing safe spaces. This conversation is an attempt to normalize and destigmatize early career physicians asking for help. This conversation is for all early career physicians to know that you matter, that you have agency and that many physicians-including myself are here to support you. 👇🏽Listen to the Full conversation

Medical Partnership Director | Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist | Professional Counsellor | Psychotherapist
Yesterday during our team meeting, my clinical supervisor asked us to pick one things in the centre that best represent us now or in the past weeks. We are to explain what the items mean and why we chose that. Followed by, my clinical supervisor asked us to combine what we had shared and the items we have to form a story. I am amazed how each of our ups and downs, strength and struggles can form a story of encouragement and strength to each of us in the team! Make a guess, what is the story we have created or what is your story when you see this ☺️

The term Junior Doctor has always seemed a little strange, suggesting that the holder is newly qualified, or inexperienced. The medical equivalent of the green P label new drivers use. A Junior Doctor however could have been practicing for years, some Junior Doctors have a decade of experience under their belts, and there are around 50,000 Junior Doctors in the NHS. What it means is that the Doctor is still training (some specialties can take up to 8 years to achieve), but that Junior Doctor could have more experience than the consultant you're seeing too. The change in title from Junior to Resident Doctor will hopefully remove the confusion many people have when reading about Junior Doctors, reassure patients that they are seeing an experienced practitioner, and provide a better reflection of the skills and responsibilities these qualified practitioners have. #nhs #juniordoctor #residentdoctor #bma

Reminding myself that feelings aren't facts can be challenging, especially when those feelings feel undeniably true. I know that it's crucial to maintain perspective, to sometimes curb my enthusiasm, particularly as engagement levels rise and people are taking notice. I know that feelings aren't facts, but how I feel when I see the nursing profession embrace technology and the novel idea of using CDS tools to support nurses at triage in the emergency department, I try to keep myself grounded (because it really makes me feel full of glee). As you know by now, I have strong feelings about this work that I do. I remind myself of this fundamental truth: feelings aren't facts. It's a mantra that helps me navigate through the complexity of emotions and what can seem like an unusually long sales cycle. It helps to ensure that I maintain a more reasoned approach when interacting with potential clients. Feelings aren't facts, but I know that we are on to something, and I can't wait to watch it unfold. What a privilege to work with the team at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics.

I understand that as usual, you gave an excellent presentation.
Had a blast at the Sigma Creating Healthy Work Environments conference this past weekend in D.C. where strategies for improving HWE standards were shared across a continuum from academia into clinical practice. Sentara represented and shared a couple of strategies including the Zen Den @ SVBGH and the systemwide Clinical Nurse Manager program for leader development from Clinical Education & Simulation. https://lnkd.in/gcspyB66

From the #clinicaltrial trenches: Mid-week investigator meetings. A mid-week investigator meeting is senseless. Most of us see patients. A few weeks’ notice is not enough time to reschedule patients – particularly when the wait list is more, a lot more, than a few months. And then there is staff. So long as they are seeing patients, they are earning. Now I have to pay for travel and time away. Worse, they will still have a few hours of training on the infernal portals. There we are, another big bump in fees if the silliness persists. #clinicalresearch #clinicaloperations #drugdevelopment
