I joined an amazing organization - Families Forward Charlotte and they need YOU. 1️⃣ Help recruit Family Liaison mentors. Keys to being a great Family Liaison - having the time, being open to forming a new relationship with a family in our program, and approaching their situation with grace and understanding. No specific skills needed! I have attached a flyer that you can pass on to anyone interested. We don't have recent posts about being a Family Liaison but look for them over the coming months. 2️⃣ Share our need for child watch volunteers Volunteers will need to be background checked if 18 or older. Needs are primarily 5:30-8:30pm on Tuesdays and 10:30-1:30pm on Saturdays. A recent social media post about it can be found here. https://lnkd.in/eVH_RYiX 3️⃣ Share our need for meals Meals can be provided in multiple ways: -homemade or store bought frozen meals -prepared or purchased meals to be served at workshops (to children and/or adults). After 23 years of separation due to family incarceration, child welfare involvement, and various needs, I was finally reunited with my father. Overcoming Obstacles: The journey to reunification wasn't easy. We faced systemic hurdles, mental health needs, substance abuse, poverty, and generational trauma. Yet, with the unwavering support of family, friends, community, and cultural traditions, we showcased our strengths and persevered. Individualized Engagement is Key: Our story underscores the critical role of individualized engagement and culturally competent support in achieving positive outcomes. Unconditional care, respect for natural supports, and a focus on strengths proved to be essential ingredients for healing.
