The report covers best practices for reducing operational and embodied carbon, aligning decarbonization with fiduciary responsibilities, and implementing carbon reduction across various alternative real estate sectors — including a close look at life sciences, healthcare, data centers, student housing, senior housing, build-to-rent, and self-storage. Currently, constructing and operating buildings contribute an estimated 42% of the world’s carbon emissions.
