My favorite memory of SSP is for when we had our first holiday party, when we was just a small amount of us and it was just so neat for everyone to get together, and I've seen that grow over the years. That bond is still there, except it's just bigger now.

Since Hanna-Barbera originally presented him, his special combination of bravery, devotion, and voracious appetite has solidified him in popular culture. What Type of Dog Is Scooby Doo, though, is a question that both fans and pet […]

This is your reminder that you're never too old for an Easter Egg hunt. 🐰 Some of the ATYPs channeled their inner children this morning and the hunt did not disappoint! We do an Easter Egg hunt every year at ATYPICAL and honestly, it's one of the highlights of my year. Do you have any office traditions/rituals that you do?

In a world that often seeks to categorize and #pigeonhole individuals based on superficial labels, being called a #cowboy can be both a badge of honor and a burden to bear. By delving beneath the surface of #stereotypes and embracing the true spirit of the cowboy, we can discover a rich tapestry of history, culture, and values that transcend time and place.

I help people start and grow their business. I coach entrepreneurs and small biz owners. I am also a LGBTQ author, speaker and gatherer who created the KC Rainbow Tour.
How do you explain "belonging" to an organization? Today I talked with our team at the Missouri SBDC at UMKC and UMKC Innovation Center about Pride Month and Belonging. (the two have a lot in common!)
I started with this Sesame Street classic and then went to Missy Elliot where we "flipped it and reversed it". It's easier to talk about what "belonging" is NOT. We all know the feeling we get in an environment where we don't feel like we belong.
The team wrote down words that described how they felt. Words like: ostracized, lonely, insufficient, self-conscious, disappointed, challenged, and many more.
Then we talked about the things people in the group often say when you express a feeling of not belonging. Things like. "Of course you do!" or "Everyone's welcome here!" or "You're being too sensitive." and more. All of these statments are dismissive and only further illustrate the point that you don't belong.
We talked about the phrase "Everyone's welcome" and how many places use some form of that phrase, yet everyone knows when they aren't welcome.
What do you feel like when you know you belong? Safe, warm, vulnerable, open, welcomed, relaxed, and more.
What will you do differently to ensure that your environments make everyone feel like they belong?

United Way of Greater Toledo is creating a super team to help address the barriers that keep people in our community from thriving.
This strategy is called Collective Impact ✨
For some, this might be hard to understand, but you've probably seen it in action without realizing it! We will show you how a team like the Avengers uses Collective Impact to save lives 🦸♂️🦸♀️
It all starts with a group of heroes with unique strengths who have a...
🌟Common goal - Protect people and stop crime
🌟Shared measurement - Reducing the # of people causing harm
🌟Aligned activities - Using their different strengths simultaneously to stop the threats
🌟Continuous Communication - Sharing information to adapt their strategies to stop the villains.
🌟Strong backbone - Someone who works behind the scenes to ensure all the heroes have what they need to succeed.
Collective Impact is like the Avengers: different organizations (heroes) with unique strengths working together towards a common goal (saving the city) through aligned activities, communication, and measurement.
They tackle complex problems that no single hero could solve alone.
