Week #26 – Lessons Learnt It is important to clearly nominate all mechanical penetrations on our builder’s works drawings, even if the riser has been exclusively allocated to be used by mech services on the architectural drawings. Otherwise, the shaft may be filled-in when we expect it to be left open, or conversely it may be left open when we expect it to be sealed up. One may argue that if shown in the architectural model, we don’t need to capture in our mech documentation. However, we had a project this week where this caused some confusion. So, we have decided to always show our penetration requirements on our drawings for avoidance of doubt.
