Access Undone: The Collapse of Special Education First Episode released 17th September Title: Please Post This Anonymously https://lnkd.in/eeyGnKUZ #accessUndone Trailer available: https://pod.fo/e/2640cb Please spread the word among anyone interested in special education. Episode 1 sets the context Episodes 2 and 3 give the history After that, you help to write the script. The purpose of this podcast is to stop Special Education from becoming the scandal of the 21st century. We have seen the damage that was (and still is) done to people where the education system failed them. By the end, I'd like to come up with solutions that are realistic. In my view, people's silence in the past was a major cause of why terrible things happened to children. Almost all of us working in schools and those representing schools and boards can see the decline in service. We need to step up. This needs to be a coming together of all the adults involved in special education - parents, staff, advocacy groups, media. It also needs the support of those that aren't directly affected. We don't want to look back in decades and wonder why didn't somebody say something.

Too often, online conversations about school choice are limited to 280 characters. The reality is that exploring issues of historic, educational inequity requires a longer conversation. I was glad to have such a conversation with Drew Perkins of the Thought Stretchers Podcast. Among other things we discussed Kentucky’s unique constitutional provisions that are subject to revisions this fall. #schoolchoice #education #constitutionallaw

Experienced change agent and business builder. Passionate about supporting school district leaders’ improvement efforts. Inclusive team leader.
This podcast does an excellent job capturing some of the key challenges (and promising practices) related to chronic absenteeism. District and school leaders need to examine how they are engaging students (and parents) in learning as one avenue for getting our kids to “show up” to school. Ultimately, we need to make sure we have systems and practices in place for measuring whether the instruction in our schools is engaging so kids feel cared for and connected to their learning. #studentengagement #highquality instruction #k12
