Q) "Does the torque wrench cover decking profiles?" 🔧 A) Not only can you use a calibrated torque for decking profiles, but it's actually essential to use in order to torque it to the correct value and ensure accurate and safe installation. I discuss this in further detail here. 👇🏻🎥 Feel free to leave any other questions related to anchors and fixings in the comments and I will endeavour to answer them!

🔧 Did you know that a calibrated torque wrench is crucial for correctly installing decking fixings? It may surprise some, but the material used in these fixings, particularly wedge nuts, is cast iron, not steel. This means precision is key to avoid damaging the integrity of the material. Over-tightening can lead to cracking, impairing the fixings' effectiveness and potentially causing failures. However, when installed correctly within the manufacturer's recommended torque, using the right tools, such as a calibrated torque wrench, these fixings prove to be durable and reliable. Ensuring proper installation not only guarantees longevity but also maintains safety standards. Take care in every detail of your installation process to ensure your decking stands the test of time.

Installation of gantry crane part 2: 6. The high-strength bolts, steel materials and steel strands used during installation must have certificates and be sampled for review. They should meet the design requirements. Torque wrenches and other construction tools used for installation should be tested and meet the requirements before they can be used. 7. The fastening surface of high-strength bolts must be clean and free from oil stains, rust, etc. 8. As long as the lifting capacity of the lifting equipment allows, try to expand the ground assembly work and reduce high-altitude operations. 9. Before hoisting components, test hoisting should be carried out first to check the stress of each part. Only when it is normal can the hoisting be continued. 10. Install semicircular corners (wire rope corner protectors) at the corners of the lifting wire rope and the equipment to prevent damage to the wire rope. Is there too much of a good thing? This picture is not to show you the cross piling of the wire rope but to indicate another issue: Excessive wire rope on the drum. The left side of the drum has the wire rope above the sides of the drum flanges. This can allow the wire rope to fall off the sides or be over height and cause damage by contacting the spoiler bars. I was contacted by a local company years ago about how long of a replacement wire rope they could install. This client worked on a wharf in a marine environment, where the hook could drop 30' lower than the wharf at low tide to reach the deck of a boat. (Same situation if working down a well or sump). An additional 30' on the drum might not sound like a lot, but if they were using 3 part line, that would be an additional 90'. The winch drum might take the additional wire rope but more than likely the wire rope would be damaged by contacting the spoiler bar. Stick to manufacturer recommendations.

Cont. Well intervention: Q5: A bell type wire line entry guide (WEG) has been chosen for a deviated well. The tailpipe will be centralized within the liner. What should be considered when planning interventions into the liner? 1 answer: A/ The tool string length should be kept as short as possible. B/ The WEG should not be positioned adjacent to a liner connection. C/ The rope socket fishing neck should be removed to ensure the two string re enters that WEG. D/ The tool string design should allow for easy recovery through the WEG. Best regards,

Let's discuss guys. Lifting activities at a construction site using a Rough Terrain Crane Grove GRT 880, lifting 1 bundle of tubular pipes with a diameter of 20mm x 12m (1 bundle = 25 Joints) from the storage pipe to the trailer truck, Pick radius is 7 meters (swl 36.7 T) and placement radius is 8 meters (swl 32.9 T), direct hitch using lifting gears 2 sets of T80 chain slings diameter 16mm x 6m x 2 Leg & 4x bow shackle 8.5 T, distance between lifting point is 4 meters. Net weight of 1 bundle of pipes is 18 T and the weight of the hook block and lifting gears is 2 T. 1. How much Crane utilization used at placement radius ..? 2. How much sling tension from 2x chain slings..? 3. Sling angle value..? Cc : Rio Cristanto Firdaus Sembodo Fransiskus eko Note : for hands free lift we use 2x tag lines polyprophylene rope 16mm x 6 meters. #lifting #Construction #grove #grovecrane #GRT880

What are the most important tools in a Marine Surveyor’s toolbox? Part 4 - Thickness Thursday. There are usually several measurements to take during a typical small craft survey. In the toolbox there are 5m and 30m tape measures, pit depth gauges and a steel ruler. But the most useful tool has to be the Vernier caliper. Most commonly used to measure the diameter on things like propshafts, rudder stocks, standing rigging wire or rod and anchor chains. It’s a surprisingly accurate device once you master the skill of reading the scale and this one has both metric and imperial measurements on it, perfect for working on older boats. With practice it can measure things with an accuracy of 0.1mm, it doesn’t require batteries and even works in the rain. What’s not to like?
