This poster delves into a study with our collaborators from FDA and UCONN, focusing on a mechnastic evaluation on the performance attributes of commercial microsphere products Rispderdal Consta and Arestin. In addition to the reference listed drugs, several in house formulations were developed, providing an assessment of manufacturing method impact on microstructure and performance. In the case of minocycline hydrochloride formulations, the microsphere internal structure appears to have a strong impact on drug release, with a more porous structure resulting in faster release. For risperidone system, the microstructure as well as the PLGA properties impact the release performance for this class of microsphere. The generic version of Bupropion HCl SR 150 mg, i.e. sustained (12 hours) release tablet was made by matrix design using the excipient hydrophilic polymer Hydroxypropyl Cellulose; Klucel® HXF Pharm grade. The Exhibit Batch (Regulatory Lot) tablets of the generic Bupropion HCl SR 150mg RLD tablets at one month accelerated stability had a very high drug release within one hour (dose dumping) as opposed to pre-designed 12 hours sustained release property.
