Steve Madden is a New York City brand, born and raised. Inspired by the city’s hyperkinetic pace and melting-pot culture, our Fall 2024 collection is a love letter that captures its beating pulse. Current trends mix with ‘90s-inspired styles that nod to our founding in 1990, culminating in a celebration of Steve Madden’s hometown, where you…NEVER MISS A BEAT.

This mural holds a special place in my heart. It was the very first piece of Sheffield—and the UK—that greeted me back in 2016. Painted on the wall right in front of my accommodation, it represented home for me, at least for a while.
When I saw this post, I paused for a second and looked back on that moment. A 19-year-old girl, who barely spoke English, was scared and alone in a new country. Every day felt like a test of her ambition and resilience, that ambition was constantly challenged by endless moments of feeling like she didn’t fit in, or she didn’t belong. But through every self-doubt and every moment of isolation, she kept pushing forward, driven by a deep belief that she was meant for more.
Looking back, I just want to tell 19-year-old Yomna,
“You’ll be okay. You’ll make it. Despite the language struggles and cultural adjustments, you’ll find your way. You’ll not only adapt but thrive, pushing yourself through every challenge.
In the coming years, you’ll live in two different countries with two completely different language and culture. You’ll not only speak English fluently but also pick up German—and you’re well on your way to mastering it too! You’ll graduate with top grades, complete a dual degree and a master’s, and even land a position with one of Germany’s most sought-after employers.
You’ll explore a career in architecture, fall in love with it, but pivot back to engineering. You’ll dive back into art, start a small business in Germany, and make it a success. And now, with all these experiences under your belt, you’re shifting into product management, confident that your skills and mindset will help you excel.
You’ve learned that the sky is the only limit you recognize, and you’ll never settle for less than your fullest potential."
To anyone else out there facing doubts or obstacles—believe that each step forward builds you up for something bigger. It’s okay to start with uncertainty. It’s okay to have setbacks. You just have to keep going.
Here’s to growth, resilience, and never settling. 🌍💪
This is probably Sheffield’s most well-known and beloved piece of street art. The Snog by renowned local artist Pete McKee. ❤️
Frank and Joy were originally painted on the side of Fagan's pub in the city centre for the 'Joy of Sheff' exhibition back in 2013.
11 years later, the mural was looking a bit worse for wear, so Pete repainted the mural back onto the pub.
Pete said he took the opportunity to give Joy a new haircut and even get her a new coat!
The mural looks set for the next 11 years, and hopefully Pete can come along and give Frank and Joy another touch-up if they need it in the years ahead.

Earlier today I posted about Social Impact in the Regions's procurement channels and the importance of our locally focused spend. This short post builds on this as we document our contribution to creative industries in the conference host community. In 2024 it was 20% of our conference spend.
When I produce events I look for experiences that are 'out of the norm' that will challenge, delight and nurture the conference delegates. Our creative experiences are often immersive (such as the 'love letters to the Macleay' installation this year). We create things that give people something to connect around, to talk about and to remember.
The emerging discipline of neuroarts gives more context to this practice providing an evidence base on the ability of arts and culture in health and well-being initiatives (which an effective conference embodies).
And besides, creative practitioners are critical to our communities and rarely compensated accordingly.
The Ready Communities (Ready Macleay) place-building program which led into this year's conference identified a range of Macleay based creative practitioners, many of whom were engaged in the conference. We are very grateful for their contributions.

🚀 **Engaging Post on Business Productivity Through Art** 🚀
We often neglect the impactful lessons we can learn from seemingly unrelated fields like art and culture! Take, for instance, the statues in Dublin of famous musicians. These endeavors can teach us vital business and productivity lessons:
- **Investment in Quality:** Creating a statue with intricate details, like realistic hair, can be costly. Similarly, investing in quality and details can set your business apart.
- **Longevity and Legacy:** Statues of artists remind us of their long-lasting influence. How is your business building a legacy?
- **Risk of Vandalism:** Just as statues face risks, so do business initiatives. How do you protect your investments and innovations?
These parallels between art and business serve as a reminder: quality, legacy, and risk management are crucial.

My Textiles Fine Art installation artwork takes a chosen space, such as a project Studio, Gallery or outdoor spaces to develop the appropriate atmosphere. They are open to everyone who wishes to enter. My practice is a process of a number of installations and developing projects, including many experimental installation exhibitions in public spaces, and interactions with the audience, complemented by songs. The contribution of the public to my work is encouraged by provoking a reaction to the atmosphere of the installation, leading to self-examination. EG71
This captivating artwork portrays a young woman split between two contrasting realms, showcasing the interplay of light and shadow. One side reveals a serene, minimalist bedroom in warm tones, while the other side reflects a muted, grayscale ambiance, symbolizing duality, contrast, and inner reflection. Ideal for themes exploring emotions, duality, and conceptual storytelling. https://lnkd.in/dcHQPcr9

The brief for the studio... "everything should strike inspiration".
With this in mind, we've created an entire floor-to-ceiling dramatic art wall, from traditional paintings to a balloon dog doing a poop.
The styles are all different but they're united by our brand colours so they work in harmony together, a bit like the Against Ordinary team.
Some will call it a distraction from deadlines, but it's not procrastination if you're appreciating art, right?
